Plenty of Offense in Men’s NCAA East-West Soccer All-Stars Game, as teams end up in 3-3 Tie:John Thomas Shepperson (Grimsley HS) named game’s Most Valuable Player

The East looked to be the stronger team early in the game, as they took a 2-0 lead over the West men, and even though the West got on the scoreboard, the East still led at the halftime break, 2-1…

Benny Hernandez, from High Point Central High School, got the West on the board, with their first goal of the game just before the intermission, and then Andrew Beohler(Concord HS) tied the game at 2-2, with his shot at the 36:33 mark of the second half, and the West was right back in this contest…

In the early stages of the game, when the East was in front 2-0, it looked like the East may run away with this match…Aidan Payne(New Hanover HS) scored the first East goal, and Aidan Morgan(Sanderson HS) followed him with another East goal at the 24:38 mark of half number one…Payne’s goal had come just 5:14 into the affair…

The West took their first lead of the night on a Kheyne Ona(South Mecklenburg HS) shot coming with 15:57 left in the soccer game…The East countered with Brendan Peeples(Cardinal Gibbons HS) hitting the back of the net, for the third East goal of the game, and the short-lived West lead was gone, and the game was now deadlocked at 3-3, with just 10:11 left to play…

The game would end in a 3-3 tie, and ties are not broken in these All-Stars Games…If the basketball game would have finished at 92-92 on Monday night, it would have hit the books, at 92-92…..

Congratulations to John Thomas Shepperson, from Grimsley High School, who was named the MVP of the Men’s Soccer Game….
