Final from Thursday night at First National Bank Field, in beautiful downtown Greensboro:
Greensboro Grasshoppers 6, Jersey Shore BlueClaws 3
Hoppers' line: 6-6-1 BlueClaws' line:3-4-2
Hopper homers from Luke Brown and Jase Bowen back-to-back in the bottom of the first inning…The solo HR’s from Brown and Bowen, helped get the Greensboro Grasshoppers untracked, and then they attacked, and never looked back…Brown with his first homer as a Hopper, and Bowen’s homer was his first hit as a Hopper….Very exciting start to tonight’s/Thursday night’s game on offense for the Grasshoppers…
Brown and Bowen were part of our Steak n Shake Players of the Game crew, as those two broke through, and they are now true SnS POG’s…Justin Meis, the Grasshoppers starting pitcher also gets a Steak n Shake Player of the Game nod…Meis came out a bit shaky to begin the game, as he gave up a home run to Marcus Lee Sang, the Jersey Shore BlueClaws leadoff batter of the game…Lee Sang played/sang some goodbye baseball sweet music, as his well-hit ball left the yard, to right field, on the third pitch of the ballgame…
Meis then settled down and for the game, he gave up a total of two runs, on three hits, with one walk, and six big strikeouts…Meis lasted six innings, and he was a big reason why the Greensboro Grasshoppers were winners again, on Thursday night…Meis did give up two JS home runs, but they were both solo HR’s, and as the saying goes, “the solo home runs, might hurt you, but they usually won’t kill you”…Lee Sang with one of the homers for the ‘Claws, and Kendall Simmons, with the other…Meis limited the damage, and he really got stronger as the game went/wore on, getting the BlueClaws, 1-2-3 in the second, third, and fifth innings…
Brown, Bowen, and Meis were the Steak n Shake Players of the Game, but wait, we had one more…It was our old good friend, the Time of Game…TOG was 1:55, and I’ll take that, and run toward the back gate, any day of the week…Justin Meis and Time of Game/TOG were working well in tandem on Thursday night, as Meis had a real fast pace, and he was working quick on the mound, and it was working well for him…
Brown, Bowen, Meis, and TOG/Time of Game, were our Steak n Shake Players of the Game for the Greensboro Grasshoppers win/W over the Jersey Shore BlueClaws…First Hopper win over JS this week, as the Shore had the upper score, in the Tuesday and Wednesday affairs…14-3 Tuesday, and 4-1 on Wednesday, making winners out of the ‘Claws…
Francisco Acuna 1-3/2 Runs, Jacob Gonzalez 1-3/BB/Run, and Jackson Glenn 1-1/2 BB’s/Run took care of the rest of the Hoppers offense…And back to Brown he was 2-3/HR/Run/2 RBI, while Bowen was going 1-3/HR/Run/2 RBI…
Meis was a tough competitor on the mound, and Jack Carey went an inning(1 Run/1 Hit/0 BB/1 K) in relief to get the Hold, plus Eddy Yean goes two innings, with 0 runs/0 hits/0 BB’s/2 K’s, to get the Save…Fine team effort from the Hoppers’ pitching staff on Thursday evening, to procure the victory…
Time of Game-1:55
The same two teams will meet again real soon…Hoppers vs. BlueClaws in Game Four of the six-game set, on Friday night, at 6:30pm, at First National Bank Field, home of the Greensboro Grasshoppers…There will be Fireworks Show after the game, and if you can’t make it out to the game, call Spaz, or Guilford the Grasshopper, and see if they will give you a ride downtown…But really, if you can’t get to the game, be sure to
