Friday Football Finish:Did we have the Game of the Week, the Game of the Month, the Game of the Year???

Did we just have the Game of the Week, the Game of the Month, the Game of the Year??? Let’s hear from some of you on this one…Southeast Guilford topped Dudley, and that is big news on the Southeast side of town…Now that SEG has confidence coming after their win over the Dudley Panthers, that should mean Southeast is ready to come after Grimsley, Page, Northwest Guilford, Northern Guilford, and the like…

Southeast Guilford made the biggest statement in the county tonight, and what goes on here, is all about Guilford County, and the other teams ought to stay over there in their own counties, right??? Well maybe we do need a little interactivity, but for the most part we need to look out for our own, and this is where they all reside, right here in Guilford County…

SEG over Dudley, 23-7…..That again, is real statement game there…About three years ago, Southeast Guilford came over to Dudley, and knocked off the Panthers on a Wednesday night…That year, the SEG Falcons ended up playing for a 3-AA State Championship….I have been around this game of football for a lot of years, and that Wednesday night win by SEG, at Dudley, was one of the biggest wins by an underdog team, that I have ever seen…Tonight wasn’t quite as big, but you couldn’t tell those SEG kids that….To them, they just won the Game of the Week, the Game of the Month, and the Game of the Year, all rolled into one…

Page defeating Reidsville tonight/Friday night was very big too…Page just didn’t have any offense in Week One vs. Dudley…Page just took down a very tough Reidsville Rams team…Dudley beat Page, Southeast Guilford beat Dudley, and does now mean that SEG can beat Page…Or does the whole football landscape and dominance change, from week-to-week…Grimsley getting past WS Reagan was a large win for the Whirlies in Week Two…In Week Five for this season, I am seeing on the schedule, Grimsley at Southeast Guilford…I will be inside Bill Slayton Stadium for that ballgame…That is going to be a HOT one…Lots of angles going into that contest…

Grimsley seems ready to open things up more…The new kid, the freshman from Southeast Guilford Middle School, Faizon Brandon, is a ready-made football and basketball player for the Whirlies…Ryan Stephens, another former SEG Falcon has settled in at starting QB for the Whirlies, but we might see Stephens and Brandon sharing time at QB, by the time we get to Week Five, at Southeast Guilford…With Brandon, I was never sure if his first name was Brandon, and if last name was Faizon, and now we finally know…Faizon Brandon, and I hope I have that right, now…And I have to remember, it is also Faizon, not Faison…Taking some time, but I am getting there….

Again, where did Page find that offense??? Is Northern Guilford still climbing back up and into the hunt for the key Metro 4-A clashes, in September and October??? The Nighthawks wore Smith out on Friday night…Jack Mercer was our Steak n Shake Player of the Week on offense from Week One, while Dudley’s Logan Wright claimed the honors on defense…And yes, that was from Week One…

Is Northwest Guilford ready to claim a stake, and maybe a steak dinner too, in the Hunt for Metro 4-A Conference Fame…Looks like the Vikings got their defense up and going better in Week Two…Maybe it was that guest appearance on the Jared and Katie Show on 107.5 FM, on Friday morning…(Maybe not)

Somebody else was saying it earlier today, and they may have been right on the money…The Metro 4-A is about to become an open ‘Hunt for November’….Grimsley, Northern Guilford, Southeast Guilford, Northwest Guilford, Page…Those five are your frontrunners, and what about maybe Southwest Guilford getting into the mix??? SWG gave WS Reynolds a whipping here in Week Two, and as you know, SWG fell to Oak Grove, by just three points, but Oak Grove took down West Forsyth in Week Two, and does that now mean the SWG Cowboys are ready to run with the other big dogs in the Metro too…

If those SEG Falcons keeping gaining more confidence in their defense, with Camber Alcorn, Jordan Dollard, Elijah Davis, Aaron Brown, Khaleb Mosley, Torian Richards, Cam Williams and others, the SEG Falcons might become the team to beat in the Metro…

The Metro 4-A is the HOT topic over here tonight, but we also saw the NEG Rams improve to (2-0) after the Rams 8-0 win over the Western Guilford Hornets…Nobody ever said you had to beat them by 100, so Northeast can enjoy their win, and the Rams have a chance to be (3-0), if they can secure a win next week vs. Morehead…

Timothy Ratley Jr. got the HP Andrews Red Raiders going strong again in Week Two…From what I was seeing on the Friday Football Frenzy, and on Friday Football Fever, he was doing it with his legs, and his arm again…We sort of discovered this kid, last Saturday afternoon, over at Smith HS, when the HPA Red Raiders were taking down the Smith Golden Eagles…We were maybe the first ones to give his name and number, and he is still for real, even after all of the success that he has been experiencing…

Some of those big Guilford County Winners coming at you again after Week Two of the 2022 season…Southeast Guilford, Grimsley, Page, Northwest Guilford, Northern Guilford, Northeast Guilford, High Point Andrews, and High Point Christian Academy, and I think that is it…

We will look ahead at more games for next week, in our Saturday Morning Rewind…

Here is the Touchdown Tally from the Southeast Guilford at Dudley game, on Friday night, at Tarpley Stadium…
(Courtesy of Don Tilley, with GreensboroSports.com/GreensboroSports Radio)

6:48 of the First Quarter:Aidan Bonde from Southeast Guilford, with a 20-yard FG, and SEG jumps on top, 3-0
9:43 of the Second Quarter:Cam Williams, from Southeast Guilford, with a 49-yard pass reception from SEG QB Bryson Serrano for a Touchdown…Bonde’s kick is good…Southeast Guilford 10, Dudley 0
Halftime:SEG 10, Dudley 0
7:30 of the Third Quarter: Kordell Bartley scores on a 91-yard pass from Dudley QB Andrew Attmore II…Abdul Bayor’s kick is good…SEG 10, Dudley 7
6:29 of the Fourth Quarter:Mark Tillman hauls in a 19-yard pass from SEG QB Serrano for the TD…Bonde’s kick fails…SEG 16, Dudley 7
6:13 of the Fourth Quarter:Khaleb Mosley takes an interception return back 20 yards for a touchdown…Bonde kick is good…SEG 23, Dudley 7
Final Score:Southeast Guilford 23, Dudley 7
Strong kicking game from SEG P/K Aidan Bonde….All of his kickoffs went into the end zone for touchbacks…Five KO’s for touchback from Bonde, and with a fast team like the Dudley Panthers, that is a real plus for the SEG special teams(SEG was able to take away the kickoff returns)…Bonde also a field goal, solid punts, and 1-2 in PAT kicks…Rocket Kicks by Bonde, and several Rocket Kicks, by Bayor from Dudley too…

  1. I think after the way East Forsyth beat Rolesville 47-0 that loss NW Guilford had of 38-49 to them doesn’t look so bad. Northwest is Legit!!!
