Danny Pigge’s Pigskin Preview and our Murphy Wainer Orthopedic Specialists Game of the Week

Going to be a lite night for high school football games, in and around Guilford County for this week, as we look at Danny Pigge’s Pigskin Preview…We also will get to, and look at our Murphy Wainer Orthopedic Specialists Game of the Week….

Most of our schools are off this week, but the teams that were not in action last Friday night, are back at it in a big way this evening…Here is a look at the schedule for this week’s Friday night contests, and many of our teams that are off this week, will join our other teams, in beginning conference play/action next Friday night…All of our kickoffs set to go at 7:30pm, unless otherwise noted…

Here again, are our games for this week:
Pinecrest(2-1) at Grimsley(2-0)
Grimsley coming off of a win over WS Reagan two weeks ago, and the Whirlies will be the favored team in the matchup with the Pinecrest Patriots…Pinecrest with wins over Anson County and Middle Creek(Apex), and a loss to Rolesville…Looks like Pinecrest’ top offensive producer has been senior RB Nahjiir Seagraves…Seagraves with 628 yards on 66 carries, and good for 7 TD runs…

Pinecrest QB Mason Konen has gone 33-55 passing for 367 yards, with 3 TD’s/2 INT….Top Patriots’ receiver is Hunter Neifert, with 13 receptions for 167 yards, and 2 TD’s…

Grimsley has two QB’s to choose from, and to look to, in senior Ryan Stephens, and freshman Faizon Brandon…They have their choice of receivers including Alex Taylor, Terrell Anderson, and Nolan Albright…Grimsley has found a very productive running back in Mitchell Summers…

Summers is putting up some very consistent numbers out of the backfield this season…Stephens with 189 yards passing for the Whirlies, and Brandon at 129 passing yards…Summers with 387 yards rushing on 40 carries, and with 4 TD’s…Taylor at 144 yards, and Anderson at 141 yards receiving, with Taylor 3 TD’s, and Anderson with 1 TD receiving…Taylor and Anderson with 9 receptions each for Grimsley….

Durham Jordan(1-2) at Southeast Guilford(2-0)
This will be our Murphy Wainer Orthopedic Specialists Game of the Week, on GreensboroSports Radio/CLICK HERE…It will be the Southeast Guilford Falcons hosting the Durham Jordan Falcons at Bill Slayton Stadium, on the SEG campus…

Only one game of stats available for the Durham Jordan Falcons, but in their win over Triton, their top RB Amareon Blue ran for 158 yards and 5 TD’s…Blue is a 5’8/170 pound sophomore RB…Durham Jordan topped Triton, 49-31, while falling to both Holly Springs, and Panther Creek…

SEG got that huge win over Dudley two weeks ago, at Dudley, and in that game it was QB Bryson Serrano hooking up with Mark Tillman and Cam Williams on TD passes…SEG got solid running from Keyshawn Wall, plus Williams also gave the SEG Falcons an extra running threat, and Williams was doing a lot of big things for the SEG Falcons…Southeast has also had help from defensive players Elijah Davis and Jordan Dollard on offense…

Davis, Dollard, Aaron Brown, Bryon Arant, Cam Williams, Camber Alcorn, and Khaleb Mosley have been among the defensive leaders for the SEG Falcons…The SEG K/P Aidan Bonde is among the best in the entire state, and he has really been booming his kickoffs…
Don Tilley will join for this game, from the Bill Slayton Stadium, this evening…

Smith(0-2) at Randleman(2-1)
Emmanuel Gilliam and Tyler Eley now sharing the duties at QB for Smith…The Smith QB’s ran the ball well in the JV game on Thursday night, but the Randleman QB threw the ball long and accurate in that JV win by the Tigers, over the Golden Eagles…

Smith has a very strong running back in Jeremiah Royster, and he has run for nearly 100 yards per game, going for 96 yards per contest and with 2 TD’s on the season…If Smith can get Royster going, that will be a real plus, in their efforts to top the Tigers in Randleman, at Charlie Gregory Stadium…CJ Neely with 201 yards receiving for Smith, with 4 TD receptions on the year…Neely a very steady target for the Smith quarterbacks…Neely also with 25 yards rushing for the season…

Randleman quarterback Christian Long is a dual threat for the Tigers throwing for 430 yards, with 2 TD/1 INT…Long going 31-52 passing, plus Long has run for 95 yards, and 3 TD’s on the ground…RB Amarion Moton running for 132 yards and 4 touchdowns…Receiving for Randleman it is Tyshaun Goldston, with 13 receptions for 252 yards, and 2 TD’s…

WS Parkland(0-2) at High Point Andrews(2-1)
High Point Andrews still led by their fine young quarterback, Timothy Ratley Jr. Coach Mitchell Jenkins has a special player, in this kid Ratley Jr., and he should have another big night vs. Parkland…Andrews has defeated High Point Central and Smith, and the Red Raiders lost to Thomasville…Parkland is paced by their sophomore QB Riley Horton…The top rusher for Parkland is Jamari Cobb, who is averaging over 100 yards per game, on the ground…Parkland has lost to South Rowan and Winston-Salem Prep…

High Point Christian(3-0) at Asheville Christian(0-3) 7pm
HPCA led in rushing by Ethan Devore with 494 yards over three games, with 5 TD’s, and 164.7 yards per game…HPCA QB John Blalock has thrown for 157 yards, 3 TDs/0 INT. on the year…Sophomore Garrett Weldner has 182 yards rushing and 122 yards receiving for HPCA…Weldner with three total touchdowns…

Bishop McGuinness(1-2) at North Raleigh Christian(2-1) 7pm
Bishop QB Jamison Graves has thrown for 370 yards and he has run the ball for 288 yards….Nine total touchdowns for Graves, and he also has 42 receiving yards…James Rashford leads all Bishop receivers with 189 yards…Backup Bishop QB Alex Waterfield has tossed two TD passes and thrown for 223 yards…Waterfield, I would think no relation to the old Cleveland Browns’ QB Bob Waterfield, Alex Waterfield is only a sophomore, while Graves is a senior…

Picks:
Grimsley
Southeast Guilford
Randleman
High Point Andrews
High Point Christian Academy
Bishop McGuinness

Top Ten for this Week:

2 thoughts on “Danny Pigge’s Pigskin Preview and our Murphy Wainer Orthopedic Specialists Game of the Week

  1. Andy honestly was talking to an old friend this week about this-when was the last time Western beat NWG? I honestly cannot recall.

  2. I can not recall, but maybe it was back when Ryan Stell was quarterbacking Western…I remember Western beat Ragsdale that year, and Ragsdale had Toney Baker…So maybe Western got Northwest that year too, and that had to back around 2008, or 2009…

No big deal at all here, but back when me and my old buds were playing football for Western Guilford, we never lost to Northwest Guilford…Back in those days, NWG never beat Western Guilford…I think I played against them maybe five straight years going back to Middle/Junior High School, and we never lost to Northwest Guilford….

Western Guilford never used to lose to Northwest Guilford…I think around the time that Rusty Larue hit the field for NWG, that is when the tide started to turn toward the favor of the Northwest Guilford Vikings…

NWG will be a three-to-four touchdown favorite vs. Western Guilford this season…
