Correction on that:Northwest 42, Western Guilford 0, from last Friday night

Lots of sources had the Final Score from the Northwest at Western Guilford game, as a 69-6 Northwest Guilford victory over the Hornets, but in reality, the Final Score was Northwest Guilford 42, Western Guilford 0….

We had the score at 69-6, here at GreensboroSports.com, the TV stations had the score at 69-6 NWG over WG, and Twitter was showing 41-0 NWG…I saw the differences, and sort of ignored it for a while, but when I kept on seeing the score getting more and more in the 40-point Northwest Guilford victory territory/range, I decided to do some research and find out what was the true score on NWG-WG from last Friday night…
(I called Northwest Guilford head football coach Kevin Wallace and got the word from him tonight/Monday night.)

And what would it matter, why would it make any difference??? Well, with the 42-0 NWG win, the Vikings got the shutout…That also means that Western Guilford has still not scored a single point this season…WG falling 9-0 to Morehead, and we were at the Morehead game to witness that one, then Western fell to Northeast Guilford, 8-0, and then it was on down to Southern Guilford, where the Hornets lost 24-0 to the SG Storm…

Then last Friday night, Western was at home facing the NWG Vikings, and the Hornets go down, and end up staying down, with the final now verified, at 42-0, Northwest Guilford coming away with the shutout victory…
(And I am sure the Northwest Guilford defense would tell you, that the shutout means very much to them.)

Northwest allowed Western negative-1 yard total offense on the evening…NWG got three TD tosses from their junior QB Tanner Ballou, with one touchdown each to Trent Cloud, Bristol Carter, and Prince Brown…NWG RB Mike Godette ran for two touchdowns, and RB Ryan Debow ran for one more…That’s six TD’s for NWG and they were good on all six PAT kicks…Not sure who the Northwest kicker is, but he was on the money, last Friday night at Western Guilford’s Doug Henderson Stadium…

Again, a big part of this ongoing story remains Western Guilford still being scoreless for the season…The Hornets have yet to scratch in 2022…Western will be at Southwest Guilford this Friday evening, as the Hornets will meet the Cowboys, at The Ranch…Do the Hornets get on the scoreboard this coming Friday night???
(With Western Guilford, I think we may have a developing story here.)

Northwest Guilford travels over to Jamieson Stadium to face the Grimsley Whirlies…Grimsley at (4-0) and Northwest at (3-1)…The Whirlies are very deep and when you try and run against that Whirlie defense, you are going against one defensive tackle at 6’6/355 pounds(University of Georgia commit Jamaal Jarrett), and if decide to run to the other side, you will run into Andre Hill, a Grimsley sophomore defensive tackle, who stands at 6’3 and he weighs 315 pounds…Grimsley has Bryce Davis, who is another Whirlie who is majoring in tacking at Grimsley, and he is in tight competition with Khalil Stimpson, to see who will be the top tackler on the Grimsley football team…
(Grimsley is also a very hard-tacking team, they have the tendency to throw the ball carrier down when they tackle him, and they will do the same thing to the receivers if they are left standing…They flat throw you to the ground when they tackle, sort of like “The Undertaker”, with one of his serious body slams….

NWG will sure be ready to put the ball in the air on Friday night, and Northwest Guilford head football coach Kevin Wallace told me this evening, that his group of Vikings are very excited for the challenge coming up this week at Jamieson Stadium…

Back in the older days of radio, we used to have this saying, and that saying/phrase that was used to bail you out was, “Correction on That”…One of our old-timer announcers used to lay that one out there a lot, and you didn’t want to have to follow his suit, and be the one to use it too…

But for today/tonight, we are laying it out there for you right here….”Correction on That”…The Final Score from last Friday night’s game was, Northwest Guilford 42, Western Guilford 0…..

  1. WGHS is in reverse and headed downhill backwards fast. The entire school has problems and they can all be linked to the man in charge. GCS is robbing a lotta kids of a decent high school experience by letting things continue to fall apart. There are a ton of great kids at WGHS that deserve much better. This is a developing story and it will continue to get worse. WGHS should change their name to the smoke blowers. Its a joke from the top.
