Ragsdale High School announces the hiring of Ren Stewart as the new women’s basketball head coach. Ren bring a extensive, veritable background. During the interview process it was the his commitment and passion for the game and he cares about the growth and development of his athletes both on and off the playing court. Stewart will officially take over coaching duties from Kris Britton, who was hired in the spring.
Coach Britton informed her players earlier this month that due to her job as the CEO of Lucky Dog Volleyball, she will be unable to commit to being the head coach. Coach Britton is charged with the task of leading that company into new endeavors as they arise. She continues to grow her company and her people. Due to increased travel this upcoming year and she could not in good conscience continue in both capacities. She said she would do both the team and the company a disservice.
Coach Britton had a great conversation with Coach Stewart and she stated that “I am excited about his vision and where he will take the program. He has also extended me the opportunity to remain on staff as an assistant coach under his leadership. I am so grateful for the opportunity to remain in your lives as an assistant coach. I will do my best to be there as much as possible while balancing new work responsibilities.”
Ren Stewart is married with 3 daughters and 1 Son, He graduated High School from Western Guilford in 1992 where he played Football and Ran Track. Then went onto Winston Salem State University on a Track and Field Scholarship and was all CIAA. He majored in Sports Management graduated from WSSU in 1996 with a BS degree.
