The 2022 Milwaukee Brewers season is over. Even though there are two games left to play, the Brewers have been officially eliminated from playoff contention.

Milwaukee came back and won in extra innings Monday night against the Arizona Diamondbacks. The Philadelphia Phillies beat the Houston Astros and cemented their first playoff appearance since 2011. For the Brewers, this is the first time in five seasons that they will not make the playoffs. It is also the first time Christian Yelich has not made the playoffs since joining the Brewers.

Yelich was interviewed after last night’s game. After the best 50-game start in franchise history, the Brewers blew a division lead and never truly recovered or hit their stride after the All-Star break. A frustrating trade deadline also seemed to affect the team more than it should have.

No. 22 shared his thoughts after the team was officially eliminated.

Brandon Woodruff also shared some thoughts after the game. No video, but had a good point about the team and team chemistry many people have been concerned about this season.

Brewers fans should expect anything and everything this upcoming offseason. Milwaukee needs several positions bolstered, and their top prospects are close to being MLB-ready. Is this week the last time we see Woodruff or Corbin Burnes in a Brewers uniform? Will Kolten Wong be back next year? With so many outfield prospects coming up, will players like Tyrone Taylor and Hunter Renfroe still be around?

We could very well see a new second baseman, third baseman, catcher, and pitching rotation in 2023. The Brewers have the foundation and upcoming talent to compete for the NL Central for at least the next half-decade. It is up to them to seize it. Yelich and Woodruff’s words are just the beginning of the players, coaches, and front office commenting on this disappointing season.
