They call it “The Game” for a reason. It’s the best, and most heated, rivalry in college football and it’s arguably one of the top rivalries in all of sports.

Michigan versus Ohio State is right up there with the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox, Duke versus North Carolina or the Green Bay Packers and the Chicago Bears.

The Buckeyes and Wolverines hate each other, to put it lightly, and this time around there was a ton on the line. I mean, a ton.

Both teams were College Football Playoff contenders checking in at 11-0 apiece. Michigan, led by Jim Harbaugh, left Columbus with a perfect 12-0 record, a spot in the Big Ten Championship, and more than likely a berth in the CFP. Ohio State took it on the chin against its bitter rival at home for the first time since 2000.

And a ton of people tuned in to watch. Like, a metric ton of people.

FOX Sports is reporting that Michigan versus Ohio State was not just the most-watched game of this season, but it was the most watched Fox Sports college football game of all time.

It makes sense considering everything that was on the line, but it still is shocking seeing numbers like that no matter the matchup.

That’s 17 million televisions that were tuned in to see this year’s edition of this epic rivalry. It was a game that Michigan handily won, 45-23.

It was a game that will certainly go down in history.
