Six Women Post Personal Bests at Mondo College Invitational

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men’s and women’s track & field teams opened the New Year at the Mondo College Invitational hosted at the JDL Fast Track.

This was the third meet of the indoor season at the JDL Fast Track for the Spartans. Six from the women’s team posted personal best times, while one from the men’s squad clocked in a personal best time.

Women
Graduate Student Chandler McCaslin earned her second individual title of the season and second in the 800-meter run. McCaslin’s time of 2:20.35 was a career best as well as a new Mondo College Invitational record. Junior Jenna Reiter took first in her heat, running in her first collegiate 800-meter run with a time of 2:27.26, placing third.

Sophomore Shay Soukup also earned a top-10 mark, taking home fifth out of 32 competitors in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:28.25. Bella Manfre finished 16th.

Kaliyah Hargrove and Deborah Ansah-Yeboah both ran their first collegiate 60-meter dash, while Naomi Pridgen clocked in a career-best time in the event.

Leah Baizar clocked in a personal best time of 27.88 in the 200-meter run, taking 18th overall. This time was also first in her heat. Monique Clement ran a personal best time of 29.95, taking second in her heat. Chelsea Valvidia-Rizo competed in her first-collegiate race, while Madison McMasters ran a personal best time.

Reagan O’Quinn finished third overall in the 1000-meter run out of 35 competitors. She ran a time of 3:05.45. Sophomore Serena Henderson placed 10th running a personal best time of 3:16.58.

Men
Junior Elijah Jones (26th place), sophomore Zin Maung (34th), and sophomore Owen McArthur (43rd) all competed in the 60-meter dash. McArthur’s time of 7.84 was a career best.

Up Next
UNCG will head to Virginia Beach, Virginia next weekend to compete in the Marlin Invitational on Friday, January 20 and then the Blue Marlins Invitational on Saturday, January 21.
