Lots of Updates coming in on this post
from Eastern Guilford High School tonight, where the EG Wildcats knocked off the WS Atkins Camels, 76-67, in the boys game, and the last time these two teams met, it was Atkins over Eastern Guilford by 30 points…
WS Atkins girls were 73-22 winners over EG…The Eastern Guilford Wildcats wrestling team in currently (54-0) on the season…They enter the NCHSAA Dual Wrestling Tournament later on this week…

More on EG-Atkins coming up, and we delivered our GreensboroSports 2022 All Football Team plaques tonight, down at Eastern Guilford, with Tavion Bullock, Jaiden Evans, Steven Murray and Braxton Veiga all taking home the hardware…Congrats to all of these young men, on claiming those honors…Also a Special Thanks to Mr. Holleman, and to EG head football coach Tony Aguilar for giving us a Great Shout Out tonight, we thank them wholeheartedly, and also say thanks to EG AD Jay White, for hosting this event this evening…
EG boys 76, WS Atkins 67
End of First Quarter:EG 15, Atkins 10…Halftime:EG 30, Atkins 27…End of Third Quarter:EG 63, Atkins 41…Final:EG 76, Atkins 67
EG Scoring:Burns 22 points, Dodd 20 points, Jones 14 points, Josa Thorne 7 points, Cotton 7 points…
Atkins Scoring:Scott 15 points, Dunlap 13 points, Ingram 10 points, Atkins 10 points, Williams 7 points, Rote 6 points, Allen 5 points, Russell 2 points…
**********The three-point shot was very advantageous for the EG Wildcats in this game…EG had eight(8) made three-pointers, and Atkins only connected on four(4) three-point shots…EG 24-12 over Atkins from three-point range…EG wins the game by nine points, and I can guarantee you, those EG-made three’s were a very large difference in this contest…And from where I was sitting, it sure looked like the EG Wildcats were out-hustling Atkins to the loose balls on Tuesday night, at EG…EG was grabbing the 50-50 balls, before Atkins could snap them up…EG got several second-chance shots, due to good offensive rebounding, and also due to sheer Wildcat hustle, and want-to…EG was attacking the rack/rim/basket all night long, with Burns, Dodd and Jones going to the hole hard, and they were having success to tune of 56 points between them…This trio of Burns, Dodd, and Jones had six of the eight EG made three-pointers, but their aggressive nature, when it came to going to basket, led to positive EG results, and they caught Atkins flat-footed, on more than one occasion…Very much success, and many good vibes, coming out of this ballgame for the Eastern Guilford boys basketball team, on Tuesday evening….**********

WS Atkins girls 73, EG 22
End of First Quarter:Atkins 16, EG 2…Halftime:Atkins 47, EG 15…End of Third Quarter:Atkins 62, EG 20…Final:Atkins 73, EG 22
Atkins Scoring:Tillery 19 points, Page 16, Worrell 10, Samuels 8, Prater 8, Hines 4, Taylor Shinn 2, Wells 2, Shinn 1
EG Scoring:Branch 12 points, Matthews 4, Taylor-Ramsey 2, Cheek 2
**********EG’s top scorer Taylor Branch was injured early in the Third Quarter, and she never returned to the game for the Lady Wildcats…She would have made the score closer, but on this night, there was no way Eastern Guilford was going to be able to beat the WS Atkins Camels…The Camels were well over the hump after the opening whistle of this game, and then they never looked back, until the final horn sounded to end the contest…The Camels kept the ball on their offensive end of the court way too long during this Tuesday night skirmish, at Eastern Guilford HS…It kind of reminded you of the old days, when the girls played six-on-six ball, and you had three girls on offense, and three girls on defense, and you had to stay on your side of the court, the entire game…Atkins was playing offensive ball, to get the win on Tuesday, at EG…***********
