Women’s Basketball Back Home for Mid-Week Match Up Against Samford

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro’s (UNCG) women’s basketball team is back home to host the Samford Bulldogs on Thursday with a start time of 7 p.m.

The Spartans fell to the ETSU Bucs, 54-74.
UNCG had 17 bench points compared to ETSU’s 11.
Faith Price had a team high of 12 points.
Emma Emma-Nnopu had 11 rebounds to tie her career high.
Akira Wiggins had two blocks for a team high.
Nia Howard, Wiggins and Emma-Nnopu all had eight points for the Spartans.

The Spartans are first in the conference in blocks per game (3.4).
UNCG is second in the conference in assist/turnover ratio (0.86), assists per game (12.7), three-point attempts per game (21.3), three-point percentage defense (28.7), turnovers forced per game (16.90) and turnover margin (2.05).
Wiggins is ranked first in the conference in assists (91) and assists per game (4.3).
Khalis Cain is ranked first in the conference in blocks (30), rebounds (196), offensive rebounds per game (4.8), and rebounds per game (9.3).
Cain is fourth in the nation in offensive rebounds per game, 2.3 difference between her and the leader, Angel Reese from LSU with 6.3 per game.
Price is leading the conference in three-point attempts (173), three pointers (62), and three pointers per game (2.95).
Price is nationally ranked seventh in three-point attempts (173), 12th in three pointers and 13th in three pointers per game.
The Spartans are outscoring opponents 66.5 to 64.6 points per game.

Samford is 11-11 overall and 5-2 in the SoCon.
The Bulldogs are leading the conference in assists per game (13.9), field goals percentage (43.7), and steals per game (8.4).
Samford is ranked second in the conference in defensive rebounds per game (26.5), scoring offense (67.8), three-point percentage (34.3), and three-pointers per game (6.4).
Andrea Bailey is leading the conference in field goal attempts (332), field goals (148), points (404), points per game (18.4), steals (72), and steals per game (3.27).
Bailey is nationally ranked fifth in steals and seventh in steals per game.
Bailey leads Samford in four different categories (steals, points, rebounds and assists).
Emily Bowman is ranked fifth in the conference for blocks per game (1.00), to lead the team.
Bowman is leading the team with 22 blocks this season.
UNCG is back in Fleming gym on Saturday February 4th to face the Mercer Bears.

Prior to the game against the Bears, the Spartans will host a Black History Month Celebration on the second floor of the Coleman Building on the campus of UNCG starting at 2:30 p.m. There will be black-owned food trucks and vendors until 5:30 p.m. It is free and open to the public.

The Spartans trail the series, 7-24.
Samford won the series last year, 57-62 (Jan. 15 in Greensboro) and 57-73 (Feb. 10 in Birmingham, AL).
