Grimsley didn’t take their first lead in the game until there was 2:48 left in the Third Quarter…At that stage, Grimsley took a 32-30 lead over the Ardrey Kell Knights…Ardrey Kell came out with red-hot shooting to begin the game…Hammonds was hitting almost everything he put up…Ardrey Kell was an excellent pull-up shooting team…
Grimsley weathered the storm, and once Grimsley took that lead, the Whirlies were on their way, and they never trailed in this game again…Grimsley up by as many as ten points, late in the Fourth Quarter, they take the victory by nine points…Zacch Wiggins was feeling it, and he had plenty of help…I told Grimsley Coach Darren Corbett that once Grimsley got their defense rolling, they were forcing AK to take bad shots, and the Grimsley stretched out and covered the court…
It looked like Grimsley was totally utilizing their ten hands, ten arms, ten legs and ten feet…All to their advantage…Grimsley started moving like they owned this game…Their confidence was showing, and now they are going on to the Sectional Finals, in another home game at the Bob Sawyer Gym, coming up on Saturday afternoon…
