Jonas Hits Home Run in Loss to Notre Dame

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) baseball team fell to Notre Dame in the final game of the three-game series Sunday afternoon at the UNCG Baseball Stadium, 7-4.

Junior Dosi Jonas hit a home run in the bottom of the fourth scoring three runs, with Dallas Callahan and Daniel Cerda on base.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Following a one-out walk from Prajzner, he stole second in the top of the first. Coetzee’s RBI single up the middle drove in Notre Dame’s first run for a 1-0 advantage.

The Fighting Irish continued that momentum scoring four runs in the top of the fourth off two hits and two errors. Jonas’ home run cut the deficit to two, 5-3. Another run crossed for Notre Dame in the top of the fifth and seventh for a 7-3 lead.

In his fourth outing this season, freshman Luke Thomas pitched a total of three innings, allowing zero runs, and striking out five batters.

In a last chance effort in the bottom of the ninth, Zack Budzik hammered one to center field with one out scoring freshman Luke Holland from third, who was pinch running for Matt Kemp, 7-4. With runners in scoring position, the Fighting Irish retired the side to hold on to the win.
