Sykes and Peddycord earn USA South Baseball weekly honors

Greensboro, NC – The USA South Athletic Conference has announced that Greensboro College’s Evan Sykes and Sam Peddycord have been named Baseball Rookie of the Week and Pitcher of the Week.

Sykes, a Freshman infielder from Graham, North Carolina went a combined 8-for-13 (.615) with a .688 on-base percentage, and a 1.385 slugging percentage to go along with six runs scored, six RBI, two doubles, one triple, two home runs, and two walks as the Pride posted a 3-1 record last week. In a 13-3 loss to nationally-ranked Lynchburg, Sykes was 3-for-4 with three RBI, one double, and one triple. In a three-game sweep of USA South foe Mary Baldwin, Sykes was a combined 5-for-9 with six runs scored, three RBI, one double, two home runs, and two walks.

Peddycord, a Senior from Kernersville, North Carolina earned a complete-game victory in his only appearance last week for the Pride, a 4-1 victory over USA South foe Mary Baldwin. Peddycord allowed just one unearned run on seven hits with zero walks and seven strikeouts.
