GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) baseball team starts Southern Conference play by hosting Western Carolina for a three-game series, starting on Friday, March 24th at 6 p.m.

Last Time Out
The Spartans had a 6-4 win over the NC A&T Aggies.
Caleb Cozart had his fourth home run of the season and Kennedy Jones had his third.
Price King pitched a career-high 7.1 innings, allowing one run, and only six hits for his second win of the season and fifth of his career.
Jones had the only multi-hit game for the Spartans, swinging 3-for-4.

Scouting the Spartans
The Spartans are 11-10 in regular-season play.
UNCG is leading the conference in double plays (21), sacrifice flies (13), and double plays per game (1.00).
Nationally, the Spartans are sixth in double plays, 10th in double plays per game, 22nd in sacrifice flies, 37th in hit by pitch, 66th in hits (207).
Dosi Jonas is nationally ranked 35th and leading the conference in sacrifice files (3).
Kennedy Jones is batting .345 (29-for-84) with 19 runs scored, 17 RBI, and three home runs.
Zack Budzik is batting .342 (25-for-73) in 19 games played with 16 RBIs, four doubles, and one triple.
In 31.1 innings pitched, Jake Wolf has a 2.87 ERA with 18 strikeouts and just 24 hits allowed.

Southing the Catamounts

Pascanel Ferreras is leading the Catamounts with a .346 batting average, going 27-for-78, with 18 RBIs, and four doubles.
Brandon Butterworth is nationally 15th and first in the conference in triples (3), and 40th in the nation in triples per game (0.14).
Zach Ketterman and Nate Stocum are the two Catamounts that have five home runs each, Ferreras and James Hinson both have four, and six Catamounts have one home run, including Jordan Starkes, Jake Spyke, Butterworth, Kyle Riesselmann, Drew Needham and Cole Jones.
Rieselmann has a 4.43 ERA to lead the Catamounts in the 22.1 innings pitched, allowing 20 hits, 14 runs, and 24 strikeouts.

Series History
These two teams have played each other eighty times since 1992 with a record of 37-43. Last season UNCG sweep the series against Western Carolina winning, 8-2, 5-3, and 16-13. The Spartans then defeated the Catamounts in the SoCon Tournament, 9-7, where UNCG went on to win the title and an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
