Fourth Quarter rally propels Pride to Conference win over LaGrange, 15-10

Greensboro, NC – A combined eight goals from Senior Austin Abourjillie (Greensboro, NC) and Junior Aaron Larios-Neubert (Beaverton, OR), to go along with a fourth quarter comeback, helped propel the Greensboro College Men’s Lacrosse team to their second win in four days and first USA South Conference win over visiting LaGrange College, 15-10.

Abourjillie put the Pride on the board first in the first quarter, with a goal less than one minute after the opening face-off, but the Panthers would answer a few minutes later. Abourjillie would do it again, this time with a man-down goal to put Greensboro back out in front, 2-1. However, LaGrange was able to find the net five times in a row to jump out to a four goal advantage, but as the quarter was coming to a close, Larios-Neubert fired one past the goalie, trimming the lead to 6-3. The two teams would trade score numerous times in the second quarter, but Greensboro’s Larios-Neubert, Junior Jack Sheridan (Hampton Bays, NY), Junior Chase Henderson (Greensboro, NC) and Senior Gage Kelly (Seminole, FL) helped pull the Pride to within one goal at halftime, 8-7.

The Panthers opened the third quarter with a goal that was quickly answered by a man-up goal from Abourjillie. After another LaGrange score, Abourjillie and Larios-Neubert continued their scoring ways to tie the game at the end of the quarter, 10-10. The fourth quarter would be all Greensboro as Larios-Neubert, Senior Dominic Scali (Randolph, NJ), Sophomore Leo Ringelberg (Waxhaw, NC) and Junior William Beyer (Greensboro, NC) scored five straight goals to complete the comeback win, 15-10.

The Pride were led by Abourjillie who finished with four goals and one assist, while Larios-Neubert had four goals. In addition, Senior Edward Rowley (Brockport, NY) picked up the win in goal, saving seven shots and Henderson went 21-27 on face-offs, which was his best performance of the season.

Greensboro will return to action on Tuesday, April 4th when they host Southern Virginia at Pride Field. Face-off is scheduled for 5:00pm.
