GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) softball team breaks up its Southern Conference (SoCon) schedule with a midweek non-conference doubleheader traveling to Radford with a first pitch slated for 3:00 p.m.

The Spartans enter the contest 23-15 overall with a 3-2 Southern Conference record. Radford is currently 11-22 overall and 2-7 in the Big South.

LAST TIME OUT

· The fell to SoCon foe Furman in a doubleheader on Thursday.

· The Paladins won game one 5-4 in nine innings and then 9-8 in game two.

· Brooklynn Maxwell and Samantha Lagrama each went 4-for-8 at the plate on the day.

· Salem Ward tossed 2.2 innings in relief, striking out four batters in the loss during game two.

Chartrand leads the Spartans with a .363 batting average.
Brooklynn Maxwell is second with a .342 batting average and leading the team with 11 doubles.
Maycin Brown and Jessie Shipley pace the Spartans with 27 RBI each. Brown leads UNCG with nine home runs.
Chartrand leads UNCG with 64 total strikeouts in the circle after pitching 71.2 innings thus far.
Rhyann Jones is 7-1 in the circle.
Nationally, the Spartans are: second in walks (169), seventh in double plays per game (0.53), 19th in home runs per game (1.21), 48th in scoring (5.47), 49th in slugging percentage (0.466), 54th in doubles (50), 57th in on base percentage (0.380), 79th in doubles per game (1.32), 88th in shutouts (6)and win-loss percentage (0.605).
UNCG is leading the conference in 10 categories including: double plays per game, doubles, doubles per game, home runs per game, on base percentage, scoring, shutouts, slugging percentage, win-loss percentage, and walks.
Among the nation, Brown is 64th in home runs (9), 86th in home runs per game (0.24).
Delaney Cumbie is fifth nationally in walks per game (0.89), while Samantha Lagrama joins her in the top 25 and is 24th in in walks per game (0.76).
Cumbie is also 42nd in runs per game (0.97) and 49th in on-base percentage (0.503).
Cumbie was named SoCon Player of the Week twice so far this season, while Spell has been voted SoCon Pitcher of the Week twice, and Jones earned SoCon Pitcher of the Week once.

SCOUTING RADFORD

Radford is coming off an 11-2 six-inning win against Presbyterian, while the Blue Hose took the two games prior.
The Highlanders were voted to finish seventh in the Big South Preseason Coaches Poll.
Radford is nationally ranked 32nd in double plays per game (0.42), which is leading the Big South, and 68th in triples per game (0.24).
Rachel Smith is leading the conference in both triples (5) and triples per game (0.15). Her triples are 12th nationally and 13th in triples per game.
Smith is also leading the team with 17 RBI.
Five other Highlanders have double-digit RBI.
Lexie Roberts is leading the team with a .337 batting average (33-for-98).
In the circle, Malorie Reeves has tossed a team-high 53.1 innings.
Chloe Greene leads the team with 26 strikeouts in 52.1 innings thrown, while Ellen Palya is 3-1 in the circle.

The Spartans have won the last three games against the Highlanders.

Two of the three were won last season on March 30, 2022 when UNCG won 4-0 and then 4-3 in Greensboro, N.C.
