The Citadel Takes Game One Against Baseball

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) baseball team fell to The Citadel in an 11-1 loss in game one on Friday afternoon at the UNCG Baseball Stadium.

With GC Jarman and Daniel Cerda on base, Luke Jenkins grounded out to second base allowing Jarman to run home for the Spartans’ only tally of the game in the bottom of the second.

Ryan Rouse pitched 2.2 innings, striking out four batters, giving up one hit and no runs against the 10 batters faced.

How It Happened

In the top of the fourth, the Bulldogs’ Travis Elliott singled through the left side to bring one run home to even the score. Later in the frame with two runners on base, The Citadels’ Anthony Badala hit a three-run home run to extend the Bulldogs’ score, 4-1.

The Citadel then scored six runs on four hits and one error in the top of the sixth for a 10-1 advantage and added another run in the top of the seventh on Sawyer Reeves’ sacrifice fly to center field with one out for an 11-1 lead.

Both teams were scoreless in the eighth and ninth innings, giving The Citadel its second-straight win, 11-1.
