GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) baseball team host Gardner-Webb for a non-conference mid-week game on Tuesday, April 18th at 5 p.m.

Last Time Out
UNCG dropped games one and two to The Citadel, bouncing back with the Spartans’ second shutout of the season with a 3-0 victory over the Bulldogs.
Zack Budzik went 2-for-4 in game three to reach the 200-career hit milestone.
Dallas Callahan hit his fourth home run on Saturday and Kennedy Jones hit his seventh home run on Sunday.
Ryan Rouse pitched six innings striking out a career-best six batters. He allowed only two hits, no runs while facing 24 batters for his second win of the season and career.
Scouting the Spartans
The Spartans are 17-19 overall and 5-7 in SoCon play.
UNCG is leading the conference in double plays (34) and double plays per game (0.94).
The team is second in the conference in base on balls (184), earned run average (5.63), and shutouts (2).
Nationally, the Spartans are eighth in double plays, 13th in double plays per game, 50th in base on balls, 56th in shutouts, 60th in hit by pitch (53) and stolen bases (54), and 72nd in stolen bases per game (1.50).
GC Jarman is nationally ranked 55th and second in the conference in sacrifice flies (4).
Jones is leading the Spartans with a batting average of .345 (51-for-148) in the 36 games.
He is ranked 75th in the nation for hits (51), and has six doubles, 28 RBIs, and one triple.
Jones, along with Budzik (.316) and Cerda (.313) are the three Spartans batting over .300.
Dosi Jonas is second in the conference in runs batted in per game (1.14).
In 48.0 innings pitched, Jake Wolf has a 3.94 ERA with 26 strikeouts and just 30 runs allowed. He is 2-2 on the mound with one save.
Jonas leads the Spartans with eight home runs, while Jones has hit seven. Caleb Cozart has hit five. Rowan Watt and Dallas Callahan have hit four home runs, while Mitchell Smith and Daniel Cerda have hit three each. Budzik has two home runs and Bradley Bott has one.
Nine Spartans have double-figure RBI, with Jonas leading the team with 32 of the 200 RBIs.
Scouting the Runnin’ Bulldogs
Gardner-Webb is coming off a 13-7 loss against High Point where the Runnin’ Bulldogs went 1-2 in the series, to add to its 22-12 record and 10-5 in the Big South conference.
The Runnin’ Bulldogs went 2-1 against UNC Asheville last week in a conference series.
The Runnin’ Bulldogs are leading the Big South in earned run average (4.06), fielding percentage (0.973), shutouts (4), strikeout-to-walk ratio (2.29), WHIP (1.34), and walks allowed per nine innings (4.00).
Nationally Gardner-Webb is 11th in shutouts, 24th in earned run average, 31st in WHIP, 33rd in hits allowed per nine innings (8.03), 53rd in sacrifice files (18), 59th in strikeout-to-walk ratio, and 67th in hit by pitch (52).
Bobby Alcock is first in the Big South in earned run average (2.47), hits allowed per nine innings (5.43), complete game (1), games started (9), and second in strikeouts (70).
Alcock is nationally 13th in hits allowed per nine innings, 15th in games started (9), 16th in complete games, 17th in strikeouts, and 43rd in earned run average.
Jacob Marcos is second in the conference in sacrifice bunts (7), and sacrifice bunts per game (0.21).

Jacob McCaskey is nationally 55th in sacrifice files (4) and second in the Big South.
Peter Capobianco is leading the Bulldogs with nine home runs, Alec Burns has seven and McCaskey is next with six. Nate Anderson and Humberto Torres have five, Mark Black and Trevor Mattson have four, Bo Rusher III and Curtis Robison have two.
Series History

The Spartans are tied with the Runnin’ Bulldogs going 3-3 in the series history. Gardner-Webb won 3-1 earlier this season on April 11th in Boiling Springs, N.C.

Last season, UNCG won game one, 7-3, while Gardner-Webb won the second game 7-6.
