Pride take two from Brevard on Saturday
Brevard, NC – The Greensboro College Baseball team began its final regular season series on the road on Saturday afternoon against Brevard College. Sykes would end up scoring, along with Sophomore Samuel Hayen (Fort Lauderdale, FL), when Senior Connor Morehouse (Kansas City, MO) hit a three-run home run over left field, increasing the Greensboro advantage to 4-0. The Tornados got on the board first and they would stay on top until Gardner hit a sacrifice fly, scoring Junior Drake Carrick (Lexington, NC) in the top of the seventh inning, evening up the game at 1-1. The Pride would take their first lead of the game in the eighth inning when Vacharasin was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, allowing Hayen to cross the plate. Edmonds would then score on a Freshman Avery Bishop (Tampa, FL) sacrifice fly and in the ninth inning, Edmonds singled in Junior Adam Weber (Mebane, NC) to increase the lead and eventually win the game, 5-1.
Sykes, Hayen and Carrick each finished the game 2-5, while Edmonds was 1-4 with an RBI and a run, while also coming in to earn the save., after Senior Jake Baldini (Clemmons, NC) and Sophomore Cam Watts (Kernersville) had a great day on the mound.
