Greensboro earns the #4 seed and will begin the USA South Tournament in Rocky Mount on May 5th

Greensboro, NC – After winning the last 7 of 8 regular season games, the Greensboro College Baseball team has earned the #4 seed in this week’s USA South Athletic Conference tournament. As the #4 seed, they will travel to Rocky Mount, NC for a three team, double elimination series with #1 seed North Carolina Wesleyan and #5 seed Pfeiffer. The games will begin on Friday, May 5th, with times to be announced.

The Pride are led offensively by Sophomore Samuel Hayen (Fort Lauderdale, FL), who is leading the team and third in the USA South with a .417 batting average. On the season, he has a total of 23 RBI’s, with 13 doubles, a triple and 4 home runs. In addition, Senior Cameron Edmonds (Whitsett, NC) has 34 RBI’s, which is good enough for #7 in the USA South and he is followed by Senior Connor Morehouse (Kansas City, MO) with 28 RBI’s, putting him at #20 in the USA South. Freshmen Brody Gardner (Asheboro, NC) and Evan Sykes (Graham, NC) have played a major role in Greensboro’s success this season, having been named USA South Rookies of the Week on numerous occasions, and Sykes was also named the NCBWA National NCAA Division III Rookie of the Week.

On the mound, Senior Sam Peddycord (Kernersville, NC) has led the way with a 6-3 overall record, striking out 57 batters, while holding opponents to a batting average of .265, for an ERA of 3.29. He is currently ranked the #5 pitcher in the USA South. Senior Jake Baldini (Clemmons, NC) has also had a productive season, as he has an overall record of 2-2, with 33 strikeouts and a WHIP of .158.
