Jones Hits Walk-Off Home Run Win, Against Wofford

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) baseball team won game one against Wofford, 3-2, after Kennedy Jones hit a walk-off home run in the bottom of the 10th.

In his 16th appearance of the season, freshman Julien Peissel pitched 7.2 innings allowing only two runs and six hits against 28 batters. He struck out a career-best eight batters.

How it Happened

Both teams were scoreless until the bottom of the third when UNCG’s Bradley Bott scored from second base after GC Jarman singled to center field for a 1-0 lead.

Wofford countered by adding two runs in the top of the fourth off two hits, for a score of 2-1. The Terriers tied the game on a RBI bunt from Black and then Galanie scored off a fielder’s choice. The Spartans got out of the jam with their 45th double play of the season.

Zack Budzik tied the score at two in the bottom of the fifth with a sacrifice fly to right field scoring Jones from third.

Luke Thomas came in as a relief pitcher in the eighth inning and got the Spartans out of a second and third jam, striking out four total batters, with no hits and no runs, earning his third win the season.
