HPT HiToms Announce Inaugural Triad Prep Softball All Star Game

High Point/Thomasville – The High Point Thomasville Hi-Toms announced today the launch of the inaugural Triad Prep Softball All-Star Classic May 21st @ High Point’s Truist Point. Thirty-two of the best high school seniors from Guilford, Randolph, Davidson and Forsyth counties will take the field in a showcase of the Triad’s softball talent.

The contest will feature Triad East (Davidson/Forsyth County) versus Triad West (Randolph/Guilford), with rosters of 16 players (seniors only – 2023 graduates) each. Area high school coaches will make up the coaching staffs with three skippers per team. Matt White (Oak Grove), Brittany Shaw (Central Davidson), Terry Buie (West Davidson) and Karlee Honeycutt (East Forsyth) will spearhead the Forsyth/Davidson county team while Lin Hayworth (High Point Christian Academy), Andrew Beane (Providence Grove) and Chris Brewer (Uwharrie Charter) will lead the Guilford/Randolph squad.

As event creator and host, the HPT HiToms are proud to add the softball classic to its diamond all-star series joining the baseball all-star game set for its second year Thursday, May 25 at Historic Finch Field. Envisioning the softball event as a means of expanding collegiate playing opportunities for young women and spotlighting their career accomplishments, the HiToms amateur sports event series continues the HiToms mission of growing young adult scholastic playing opportunities.

“The Prep Softball All-Star game aligns with our existing youth initiatives,” HiToms President Greg Suire said. “From sponsoring the greater High Point area’s American Legion baseball program to hosting spring scholastic classics to championing the Student Athlete of the Week series with the High Point Rotary Club, the HiToms are committed to enhancing the lives of our young people. As we embark on our 24th season as a Coastal Plain League franchise, it is quite clear that the HiToms primary mission has now become the development of our community’s future leaders.”

Chairperson of the Player Selection Committee and Oak Grove Head Coach Danielle DiLuzio sees the Classic as a great opportunity to champion Triad area softball and celebrate the student-athlete’s careers.

“This is a great opportunity to celebrate the growth of female sports. Softball has grown tremendously in this area and it is exciting to recognize the talent and hard work these young ladies have put into the game,” said Danielle DiLuzio, Triad Prep Classic Chairperson and Oak Grove Head Softball Coach. “It’s great to have an organization put female athletes in the spotlight and recognize their accomplishments.”

Rosters will be announced May 16th. Follow all of the player reveals on the HiToms social media channels and hitoms.com

  1. Karlee Honeycutt is at East Forsyth, NOT East Davidson. Whoever sent the press release out might want to proof the release first. Just a thought.
