from Saturday night, at First National Bank Field:

'Claws- 9-12-1
Hoppers-5- 8-0

Greensboro Grasshoppers(20-12)
Jersey Shore BlueClaws(13-15)

The Grasshoppers fell behind early in this contest, but they bounced back quickly behind Jase Bowen and his seventh home run of the season…For Bowen, he produced his 24th and 25th RBI of the year…Bowen’s bomb to centerfield tied the game up at 2-2, and the scoring for this night was far from over…

Jersey Shore responded with four runs in the top of the third inning and they took a lead that they would never give back…The big blow here, was the BlueClaws’ Nick Ward coming up with a big-time blow to left field for a three-run dinger…JS now up 6-2, and the ‘Claws were not looking back…JS starter Jordan Fowler had a solid lead to work with, and he wasn’t looking back…Fowler was moving forward, and he ended up going five full innings, giving up 2 runs, on six hits, with 0 BB’s/5 K’s…Very solid outing for Fowler…

After the Hoppers picked up those two runs in first inning off of Fowler, they did not score again, until Greensboro posted a lone run in the seventh inning…The Hoppers came right back with two more runs in the ninth inning, and they got those two scores coming off of Sammy Siani’s two-run HR to centerfield…The SSS/Sammy Siani Shot, scored Sammy and Wyatt Hendrie, who had walked to lead off the inning…

Sammy Siani and Jase Bowen running off with the Steak n Shake Players of the Game honors on Saturday night, and Ernny Ordonez picking up a large order of fries for his 2-4 night at the plate…Mike Jarvis with RBI #23 of 2023, Tsung-Che Cheng with a double for Greensboro….

The Greensboro Grasshoppers starting pitcher, Bubba Chandler, lasted only 2 2/3’s innings, and he left out in the top of third inning, after giving up 6 runs, on 6 hits, with two walks, and three strikeouts…Chandler also hit one batter, and he gave up the 3-run home run, to the ‘Claws Nick Ward….Chandler was close to getting chased earlier, after a Balk, and some unsettled situations that brought Hoppers’ skipper Robby Hammock out to the mound to talk to Bubba, and Chandler was ready to hand Hammock the ball, but Robby Hammock told Bubba to settle down, and keep working…

After Bubba Chandler’s exit, the Hoppers turned to Miliano, Miller, and Mateo, before Jaycob Deese came on board to work the final two innings of the contest…The smoothest Grasshoppers work of the night came from Deese, as he rolled all zero’s, with the 0 runs, hits, and walks, and Deese struck out two ‘Claws…

Once Jersey Shore pulled Jordan Fowler, after his five innings, they looked to Carlos Francisco, Albertus Barber, Chase Antle, and Orion Kerkering…Those four hurlers worked one inning each, with Chase Antle having possibly the best stuff from the Jersey Shore pen, with Antle walking one Hopper, while striking out three Greensboro batters, and giving up no runs or hits….Antle, the former Coastal Plain League pitcher for the Asheboro Copperheads….

Hao Yu Lee was 2-5/Double/BB/2 Runs/3 RBI for the ‘Claws…Rixon Wingrove was 2-5/Double/2 RBI…Anthony Quirion was 2-4, plus Jared Carr went 2-5/Double/Run…Nick Ward 1-3/HR/2 Runs/3 RBI…

Offensively, after the first inning, the Hoppers were never in this game, but on defense, Greensboro got great plays from Jase Bowen in left field, and from Mike Jarvis at shortstop…Running fly ball grab on the line by Bowen, and Jarvis with a spectacular play at SS…

Hoppers see their five-game winning streak come to an end, as they lose for the first time since last Saturday at Winston-Salem…
