International Basketball Summit 2023

The International Basketball Summit – Portugal 2023 is one of the largest gatherings of professionals, athletes, coaches, referees, and basketball enthusiasts at an international level in Portugal. The event will bring approximately 500 athletes, coaches, officials, referees, and other basketball stakeholders to Lisbon from June 23rd to 25th, 2023.

The main purpose of the event is to participate in various lectures and demonstrations related to training systems, tactical and technical systems, refereeing clinics and regulations, practical coaching clinics, and career management lectures.

These sessions will be led by renowned keynote speaker Albert Schaffer, coach of San Diego State University, Roberto Fortes, Angolan international and former NCAA athlete, Chris Horton, director of personnel and development at Willamette University (Oregon), Reggie Hines, assistant coach at High Point University in North Carolina, among others.

In the second phase of the event, there will be a social program consisting of competitions, practical sessions, and cultural initiatives with exhibitors related to the basketball lifestyle. The event will include an opening ceremony and an official dinner. Institutional events involving local clubs and federations are also planned.

In addition to the positive economic impact on the local economy, this event also aims to promote Portugal as a destination for sports tourism. It allows showcasing a diversified range of seminars and associative sports events in the country to the world. The event attracts participants from three continents (North America, Europe, Africa) and countries such as the United States, Iceland, England, Wales, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Senegal, among others.
