Rodney Boykin is our new head football coach. He was a former OC at Western Guilford and also had stops at Eastern Guilford and Smith as an assistant….More info on Coach Boykin coming in here tomorrow, from Jeff Carter, the AD at SG/Southern Guilford HS…

Southern Guilford will also have a new men’s soccer coach – Briton Wertz (she was an assistant for the women’s team in the spring).

Also, Ethan Edwards (younger brother of Evan Edwards) will replace Adam Gunn as our head baseball coach for the upcoming season. Ethan has been Coach Gunn’s assistant for the past three years. Coach Gunn will be taking over as the head baseball coach at Southeast Alamance High school which will open in August.

More on the football job, as we(GreensboroSports) were talking to former Southern Guilford head football coach Jason Bear Bradley the other day, and he told us that some of the former Southern Guilford football staff has left SG and come with him(Coach Bradley) to Trinity HS, where he is now the head football coach…Coach Bradley is also the former coach of the Wheatmore Warriors, and Wheatmore is just down the road, from Trinity…Coach Bradley also told us that other former SG assistant football coaches have gone to Western Guilford, and that some of the Western Guilford assistant football coaches are now down at Southern Guilford…

Welcome to the Guilford County Coaching Carousel…Coach Bradley and Trinity also scrimmaged Page and Northeast Guilford this week in 7 on 7 football action, and the Thomasville Bulldogs, led by their head coach Kevin Gillespie(former head coach of the Page Pirates), came over to Trinity this week for a 7 on 7 scrimmage with the Trinity Bulldogs…

Also, Ethan Edwards, the new Southern Guilford High School baseball coach played high school baseball for the SG Storm, and his brother Evan, played for Southern Guilford HS, and for the N.C. State Wolfpack…Pretty sure Evan made it to minor league baseball, after N.C. State…We used to always call Evan Edwards, “Diehard Evan Edwards”, after “Diehard Eddie Edwards”, from Ring of Honor and Impact Wrestling…

Thanks to the SG AD Jeff Carter, and to Trinity head football coach Bear Bradley for the info that they provided for us today….
