This was the last week of the boy’s Summer League, and this was the final game of the season, the Title for 2023 goes to the Ben L. Smith Golden Eagles…

We talked about it being a very good atmosphere, it was with the air conditioning going strong, and the hoops moving up and down the floor in a hurry, this was a near-perfect setting for high school basketball on a Friday afternoon, at the end of June…
Jaylon Bupass, Kenny Miller and Gage Lattimore, are DI prospects for the Smith Golden Eagles and they showed us again today, why the colleges are so interested in this Big Three…The big take-away I got from Smith today, was their dominance on the boards…Second-chance shots if necessary, and Smith was finishing strong around the rim…Smith works hard to maintain offensive possession, and they let their rebounding go a long way, in dictating who will have the basketball…
Smith and Dudley will do heavy battle in the upcoming 2023-2024 school year, and we know the Southern Guilford Storm will be right there with them…Last year was a great year for the top three of SG, Smith, and Dudley, in the Mid-State 3-A Conference, and Smith should be even better this year than last year, with the addition of Bumpass and Miller…Dudley gets stronger with Jerron Blackwell and CJ Neely coming over to Lincoln Street, and Southern Guilford will have Jamias Ferere and a solid handful of returnees ready to help SG head coach Wil Perry…
Page was tough today, and the Pirates had a very hard-working force inside, in Alex Jones…Alex works as hard as any player in the county, and if he keeps that up, he will keep getting better…I told him today to just keep on finishing…He will have to keep on getting better with his inside power game, and will have to hit his shots on the first look, and then if he goes up strong and gets fouled, he must hit his free throws…The Alex Jones ticket will be to college for football, but he will also be ready to help out the Page Basketball Team…
The kid I would want to be in 2023, and the kid I want to see is #3 from P-A-G-E…His last name is Lee, and I will call him ‘Little Man Lee’, the Page PG…Kid runs the point, and he runs it smooth…’Little Man Lee’ sort of reminds me of “Little Man Free” who used to be the PG for the Piedmont Classical School Bobcats…Lee will be something to see in 2023…
Smith has the talent, and Page has talent too, but Page is still heavy into the developmental stages…Brent Hinson was coaching the Smith Golden Eagles today, and he led his Golden Eagles to the Title…Brent will be an assistant coach for the Smith Golden Eagles this upcoming 2023-2024 season…Not sure who the Page coach was today, but he got his kids to the finals, and that says a lot right there…
Good stuff today over at Smith, and Jaylon Bumpass got his share of the stuffs during the game, and in warmups….
