Hype Train is Now Boarding, Grimsley HS ranked 78th Nationally

Newly updated 2023 Pre-season High School Football rankings have been released by MaxPreps. They have two teams from North Carolina ranked in the Top 100. Providence Day checks in as the 71st ranked team. Providence Day in Charlotte returns five key starters from a team that won their second consecutive NCISAA Division One State Title. Not far behind, Grimsley sits as the 78th pre-season ranked team in the Nation.

Nationally, California (14 ranked teams), Texas (14 ranked teams) hold the top two spots as those States combine for 28 ranked teams. Florida (13 ranked teams) and Georgia (12 ranked teams) round out the top four.

Coach Damon Coiro, who was the former head coach at Grimsley HS, an assistant coach at Southeast Guilford HS, an assistant coach at Northern Guilford HS, and an assistant coach to Kennedy Tinsley(Dudley HS, Eastern Guilford HS, and head coach at Southeast Guilford HS,) well Coach Coiro is now an assistant coach at Providence Day HS..Coach Coiro was the assistant coach to Coach Tinsley, at Mallard Creek HS, there in Charlotte…Also at Providence Day is Coach Baldwin, who was an assistant coach at Page HS, last season…Lots of Guilford County influence down in Charlotte area, with Coach Tinsley still leading the way at
Mallard Creek, and Eric Davidson, from Grimsley HS and Western Guilford HS, still one of Coach Tinsley’s assistant coaches at Mallard Creek, while Coach Clay(Western Guilford HS/Southeast Guilford HS), who was at Mallard Creek, over the past couple of seasons, he is now back in Greensboro, as an assistant coach at Page HS.)**********
