The local East Forsyth Eagles got it rolling versus AC Reynolds, from Asheville, and here is how EF is doing it, from HSOT and WRALSportsFan…East might be a team of West Destiny, and on our Guilford County 4-A team’s radar for November…

East Forsyth built a big lead early on A.C. Reynolds, but the Eagles had to hold off a comeback attempt by the Rockets en route to a 27-21 win.

It didn’t take long for East Forsyth to find the end zone. UNC commit Bryce Baker completed a long pass to Josh Alston for a 70-yard touchdown. The Eagles missed the extra-point attempt though and led 6-0.

The defense made up for the mixed extra-point with a safety on A.C. Reynolds’ ensuing possession. That gave the Eagles an 8-0 lead.

Baker scored with his feet moments later, finishing a drive with a one-yard run for a touchdown. Then later in the first quarter, he completed a 17-yard pass to Alston for the second touchdown for the duo. East Forsyth led 21-0 after one quarter.

A.C. Reynolds finally got on the board late in the second quarter. Hayden Craig completed a 13-yard pass to Tyvon Patterson to cut the Eagles’ lead to 21-7 at halftime. That was the spark Craig needed to get the Rockets going too.

East Forsyth responded early in the third quarter with an 18-yard pass from Baker to J.P. Gilcrest for a touchdown. The Eagles went for two points, but the conversion attempt failed.

Late in the third quarter, Craig threw a short touchdown pass to Ty Johnson to get within 27-14 going into the fourth quarter. Then Craig connected with Patterson for a second touchdown to make it 27-21.

The Rockets ran out of time though, and the comeback fell short.

East Forsyth is now 3-0 overall entering its bye week next week. The Eagles will open conference play on Sept. 15 with a home game against Reagan.

A.C. Reynolds falls to 1-2 with both losses coming by a combined seven points. The Rockets host Watauga next Friday night in their last non-conference game of the season.

Cornelius Hough Kicker on verge of National Record….
from HSOT….www.wralsportsfan.com

Hough kicker Nolan Hauser ties national field goal record against Dutch Fork
The state’s made field goals record holder now is the co-owner of the national record with 56 makes.

Hauser, already the state of North Carolina’s record holder for career made field goals, tied the national made field goals record in Hough’s win over Dutch Fork (SC).

According to the National Federation of State High School Associations’ official record book, the top mark for career made field goals is 56. That number was accomplished by Cole Hedlund of Argyle High School in Texas.

Hauser hit his 56th field goal to put Hough ahead of Dutch Fork 20-17. The kick ended up being the game-winner.

The senior kicker set the North Carolina record in Hough’s fourth round playoff loss to Grimsley last fall.
