UNCG Women’s Cross Country to Run in Winthrop/Adidas Invitational

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women’s cross country team will compete at the 40th Annual Winthrop/Adidas Invitational hosted by the Eagles in Rock Hill, South Carolina on Saturday, September 29.

This meet is hosted by Winthrop University at Winthrop Farm. The women’s five-kilometer race will begin at 9:45 a.m.

Catawba, Elon, Gardner-Webb, NC Central, SC State, UNC Asheville, UNCG (women) Winthrop, Wofford

PROVE THEM WRONG

The women’s squad tallied 34 points and was voted to finish eighth.
Furman University was selected to take home its 11th-straight titles on both the men’s and women’s sides.

ROSTER
The women are returning 10 from last year’s squad, while adding one newcomer to the roster.

LAST YEAR FOR THE WOMEN
The women saw its best mark at The Firetower Project with a seventh-place finish.
The squad finished eighth at the SoCon Championship.
The women placed 29th at the NCAA Southeast Regional and senior Jenna Reiter led the squad in her second NCAA appearance.

LAST TIME OUT FOR THE WOMEN
The women placed third out of 12 teams in the five-kilometer race at the Queen City Invite at McAlpine Creek Park, hosted by Queens (CLT).
Reiter paced the Spartans with a sixth-place finish and a time of 18:30.4, while sophomore Victoria Sosa was eighth with her time of 18:32.6. Both were the two Spartans who earned top-10 marks.
Junior Camille Carlson was the next Blue & Gold across the finish line, placing 22nd with a time of 19:09.2. Senior Shay Soukup followed in 25th place with a time of 19:28.9.
Freshman Tenley Douglass competed in her first collegiate race, taking home 36th.
