Tough Outing For Pride Football

Greensboro, NC – In a tough matchup on Saturday, the Greensboro College football team faced off against Maryville College.

Quarterback Alec Williams-Carr led the offense, completing 22 out of 32 passes for 235 yards and connecting for one touchdown. His touchdown pass was a 30-yard beauty to Leonard Greer, who proved to be a key target in the passing game. Greer had an impressive performance with 7 receptions for 119 yards, showcasing his ability to make big plays. Shamar Privette also contributed with 4 catches for 55 yards, while Mandre Ogletree added 3 receptions for 49 yards.

Defensively, the Pride had some standout performers. Linebacker Larry Jones led the team with an impressive 13 tackles, showing his ability to make plays all over the field. William Paithorpe was close behind with 10 tackles, and Max Steele added 9 to his name. The secondary forced turnovers, as Jaden James and Derrick Smith each came up with interceptions.

Tyler Alston and Dejuan Robinson each recording sacks, while Ben Mangungu finished his night with 7 tackles and a forced fumble.

Coach Tyler Card expressed his confidence in the team’s ability to bounce back in the next matchup. “We faced a strong opponent today, but our players showed heart and determination. We’ll learn from this experience and come back stronger.”

The Pride’s next game will be on the road at North Carolina Wesleyan College on October 14th (Saturday) in Rocky Mount, NC, at 6:00 PM.
