Khrystyuk Leads UNCG Men’s Tennis at the ITA Carolina Regionals
DURHAM, N.C. -The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men’s tennis team completed the first two days of the ITA Carolina Regionals hosted by Duke University, on Friday, October 20, and Saturday, October 21.
DAY 1 (Friday, October 20th)
Christopher Johns dropped a singles match to Esteban Lopez from NC A&T, 1-6, 2-6 on Friday. John Gabelic had a 4-6, 0-6 score to lose to Karl Poling from North Carolina. Tymofiy Khrystyuk fell to Juan Camilo Perez from Davidson with a score of 1-6, 7-5, 6-4. David Flisberg lost with a score of 1-6, 6-0, 6-1 to Joseph Wayand from NC State.
DAY 2 (Saturday, October 21st)
Johns and Khrystyuk retired from doubles due to injury against Steveker Win and Connor Enslin from Queens of Charlotte. Gabelic and Flisberg tallied an 8-4 loss in doubles to Jamieson Nathan and Saud Alhogbani from Wake Forest University.
Gabelic dropped a singles match to Matias Gaedechens from College of Charleston 6-1, 6-0. Khrystyuk earned the Spartans’ only win of the tournament, claiming a consolation victory over Naresh Mithran from NC Central 6-4, 7-6, (15-13). Flisberg lost to Will Fullett from Wofford 6-3, 3-6, (10-3). Johns lost to Oskar Antinheimo from Elon with a score of 4-6, 0-6 in singles.
