We remember Cat Ballou and now we will always remember Tanner Ballou as the All-Time Passing and Touchdowns leader in Northwest Guilford HS football history

He had 76 touchdowns going into the game on Friday night vs. the Southeast Guilford Falcons and now he has 80 TDs passing in his Northwest Guilford High School football career…Tanner also the school leader in passing yards with over 6,400 career passing yards for the Northwest Guilford Vikings….

Tanner Ballou doing the 80 TD passes and over 6,400 career passing yards in just three seasons as a NWG Viking…

2023-10-21 Tanner Ballou

Tanner now has surpassed Rusy LaRue, the former Wake Forest Demon Deacon in football and basketball, and the former NBA player for the Chicago Bulls, the Utah Jazz and Golden State Warriors….LaRue the former All-Time leader in passing yards and TD passes at Northwest Guilford High School and now Tanner Ballou the Northwest Guilford senior quarterback and signal-caller, plus part of the Class of 2024, at Northwest Guilford High School, has the records for the NWG Vikings…

Tanner Ballou, a young man we saw for the first time, five years ago, as he was throwing passes to Trenton/Trent Cloud, as the Northwest Guilford Middle School football team took on the Mendenhall Mustangs over at Deebs Young Stadium, there on the Mendenhall Middle School campus….

We have seen Tanner Ballou grow into one of the top high school quarterbacks in the state of North Carolina…

Congrats to Tanner, and continued success to this young man in his football and academic careers in high school and in college….

*********Just a little bit on the Rusty LaRue background for you….
LaRue attended Northwest Guilford High School in Greensboro, North Carolina, where, in addition to being an honors student, he earned All-State honors in baseball, basketball, and football. As a senior in 1991, he was named North Carolina Athlete of the Year, and he attracted the attention of many colleges before choosing to attend Wake Forest, where he played both basketball and football in the ACC. LaRue also played collegiate baseball for one season, becoming just the second player in ACC history to play three sports in the same year. He was 1 of only 4 players to beat Duke at Cameron Indoor Stadium all four years, the others being Tim Duncan, Tyler Hansbrough, and Danny Green.***********
