They will be naming the Southeast Guilford High School gymnasium basketball court the Fred Whitfield Gym this Friday night, in a special ceremony between the SEG-Southern Guilford girls and the SEG-Southern Guilford boys basketball games…Girls game set to go at 6:30pm, and the boys will follow at at around 8:25 pm, just after the Fred Whitfield Gymnasium naming ceremony…
Fred has had his basketball jersey retired at SEG, and now he will have the Gym’s court named after him also…Football stadium at SEG, is the Bill Slayton Stadium, and Fred Whitfield was the football team manager for Coach Bill Slayton, back when Fred was in high school, at Southeast Guilford HS…Fred was a manager/statistician….
