Wild finish out there at the Greensboro Coliseum tonight where there were playing the HAECO Invitational Tournament Semifinal games, inside the Novant Health Fieldhouse….For the Page-Greensboro Day boys game, I thought I might have to call the Novant Health doctors a few times, as the Bengals and the Pirates were playing a heart-stopping boys basketball game…
I should probably hold back, but it is hard to….The Page-GDS boys semfinal game was one of those GreenboroSports Radio games, that we like to call, “The Game of the Week, The Game of Month, and The Game of the Year”, all rolled into one…Page topped the Greensboro Day School boys, 56-53…Page, as the #6 seed knocked off #3 seed Grimsley back on Tuesday night, they defeated #2 seed Greensboro Day School tonight/Thursday, and now Page as that major Underdog, will face the Top-Seeded #1 Smith Golden Eagles on Friday night, in the Men’s Championship Game…You go from Boys to Men and from Girls to Women, when you hit the Championship Stage….
Page is on that stage, along with the Smith Golden Eagles men, who took care of their heated arch-rival the Dudley Panthers, 71-52…Smith took care of buisness led by Gage Lattimore, Jaylon Bumpass, Kenny Miller Jr, and Tayshawn Mann…Smith and Page Friday night going for the HAECO Tournament Title…Smith defeated Page, 72-44 back on November 30, in The Big Four Challenge Event…It was 28-point back then for Smith…Page has a big ole Chip on their Shoulder and Smith wants to live up that number #1 billing and take the HAECO Title…
Page with key free throws down the stretch Thursday night vs. GDS, with Jackson Sellars, Andrew Bartlett, and Alex Jones hitting big time foul shots…Jones 6-6 on his free throws for the game, and he hit two huge chartiy tosses late, and one of the Alex Jones FTs was actually a bank shot(ATM-style)…Alex Jones with 10 Page Pirates points, and Jackson Sellars for Page with 25 points, and one monster block on the last GDS shot of the contest…Bartlett with 8 Page points and he took some shots, and got knocked down a few times, and Bartlett kept getting back up…Page got 11 points from Tyren Martin…And with Martin, Bartlett, Jones, and Sellars, that pretty much was most of the Page scoring right there….

2023 HAECO Invitational Men’s Semifinal #2.
Greensboro Day is seeded 2nd. Page is seeded 6th.
We talked about Page making their run to the HAECO finals as the #6 seed, and they topped #3 Grimsley, #2 Greensboro Day, and now the Pirates have #1 seed Smith in their sights…You never know about these teams that are playing those Game of Week, the Game of the Month, and the Game of the Year type ballgames…Former Page assistant boys basketball coach Brett Speight used to call games like Page-GDS, the Games of the Week, the Games of the Month, and the Games of the Year….
How much does Page have left, and what will they bring to the table vs. Smith??? Time to find out, as the Golden Eagles of Ben L. Smith High School take their top seed status to the Greensboro Coliseum Fieldhouse on Friday night….Do the Page Pirates have one more Big Win left in them??? Smith can run, with Lattimore, Bumpass, Miller, Mann, Cowan, and others ready to run…Will Page be able to slow down the Golden Eagles, and keep this Title Tilt in the 50’s??? It was 56-53 Page over GDS, and it seems like that is where Page would like the score to be…..
This will be one Big-Time game when Smith and Page meet TONIGHT, in the Greensboro Coliseum Fieldhouse….
