Chattanooga Shoots Past UNCG Men’s Basketball, 89-61

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men’s basketball team was unable to get past Chattanooga on Saturday afternoon, 89-61, in The Southern Conference (SoCon) play at the Greensboro Coliseum.

Three Spartans tallied double-figures, including Mikeal Brown-Jones who led UNCG with 25 points. Keyshaun Langley(Southwest Guilford High School) chipped in 12 points while Donovan Atwell had 11 points.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Chattanooga drained a three pointer to start the game and UNCG responded by scoring seven-straight points to get ahead, 7-3. The Mocs responded with a 10-0 run to regain the lead and stay on top the rest of the game, at 13-7, with 14:56 on the clock. Chattanooga saw its first double-figure advantage of the game at 7:10, 25-14, after a jumper from Sam Alexis. Keyshaun hit one of his three three-pointers at 5:57 to cut the deficit to eight, 25-17, but Chattanooga continued its offensive attack and headed to the locker room with a 13-point advantage, 44-31.

The Mocs capitalized on their 68.2-percent shooting from field goal range in the second half to climb to a 20-point lead for 16 minutes.

BY THE NUMBERS

Brown-Jones tallied a game-high eight rebounds.
Kobe recorded a team-high six assists, while Keyshaun had four helpers.
The Mocs outmatched the Spartans in bench points, 28-7.
Chattanooga recorded 26 points in the paint, compared to UNCG’s 12 points.

The Spartans hit the road to battle The Citadel on Wednesday, February 14 at 7:00 p.m. in Charleston, South Carolina. They then travel to Spartanburg, South Carolina to face Wofford on Saturday, February 17.
