Baseball to Host No. 1 Wake Forest
GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) baseball team will host No. 1 Wake Forest for a weekday matchup on Tuesday, Feb. 20 at 4 p.m. at the UNCG Baseball Stadium.
All regular season baseball home games are free admission. Concessions will not be open and outside food is permitted. Concessions will open March 22 during the Mercer series and outside food will not be permitted when concessions open. All weekday home games (not including Friday) will be Bark in the Park games, where spectators can bring their dogs.

SCOUTING THE SPARTANS
UNCG opened up the 2024 season with a series sweep against Fairfield on Friday, Feb. 16 to Sunday, Feb. 18 at the UNCG Baseball Stadium.
The 3-0 start is the best for UNCG since the 2019 season.
Caleb Cozart was named The Southern Conference (SoCon) Player of the Week after hitting four home runs, scoring seven runs, recording six hits and 11 RBI in just 11 at bats over the three games. He finished the weekend with a .545 batting average.
Cozart’s four home runs put him in a three-way tie to lead the nation with the most home runs this season. In addition, Cozart is fourth nationally with his 11 RBI and third with a 1.727 slugging percentage.
Trey Truitt follows closely behind Cozart with six runs over the three-games played this season.
Mayson Dear, Luke Thomas and Danny Thompson Jr. stood out as the winning pitchers over the series.
UNCG was tabbed to finish sixth in the 2024 SoCon Preseason Coaches’ Poll.
Rob Ready was named to the Preseason All-SoCon second team.
The Spartans finished the 2023 season with a 25-34 overall record and 9-12 in SoCon play to earn the sixth spot in the SoCon Preseason Coaches’ Poll. UNCG concluded the season in the semifinal round of the SoCon Tournament, falling to No. 1 Samford, 9-5.
The Spartans welcome 22 newcomers for the 2024 season: 10 transfers and 12 freshmen.

Jay Miller returns as the leading pitcher for the Spartans after totaling 50 strikeouts last season.
Mitchell Smith stands out as a key hitter for the Spartans swinging .357 at the plate last season.
SCOUTING THE DEMON DEACONS
No. 1 Wake Forest heads to Greensboro after also starting off the season with a 3-0 record at the David F. Couch Ballpark.
The Deacs defeated Fordham, 9-3, Illinois, 5-2 and most recently Akron 14-3 in seven innings.
Michael Massey leads the country with zero hits allowed per nine innings.
Josh Hartle leads nationally with zero walks allowed per nine innings.
Chase Burns stands out at ninth nationally with 10 strikeouts this season.
Adam Tellier leads Wake Forest with a .444 batting average and five walks.
Four players have hit home runs over the three-game stretch.
Seaver King and Jack Winnay are 2-for-2 on stolen bases.
Wake Forest was selected as the 2024 ACC baseball preseason favorite after earning 10 of 14 first-place votes.
The Demon Deacons finished atop the Atlantic Division in 2023 before making a run to the Men’s College World Series championship series.
