Game Report on Bishop McGuinness-CPLA Boys Basketball: Villains claim Northwest Piedmont Conference Tournament Championship(Defensive pressure, Rebounding effort, and Balanced scoring are the Standard for Bishop)

The Bishop McGuinness Villains took on the College Prep & Leadership Academy Royals in the NW Piedmont Conference Championship on Friday night. The Royals jumped out to a quick lead but the defensive pressure, rebounding effort, and balanced scoring of the Villains took over from there. Bishop fought for a 10-point lead at the end of the 1st quarter and continued steadily building the lead throughout the game which finished in a 59-36 victory.

Three Bishop players reached double-digit scoring, John Campbell (13 points and 8 rebounds), Aiden Martin (10 points and 3 assists) and Nicholas Graves (10 points). Alex Waterfield finished with 8 points and 6 rebounds while senior Cal Barrett finished with 6 points, 11 rebounds and 4 charges.

The Villains will host their first-round opponent in the NCHSAA State Tournament which begins next week.
