UNCG Golfer Kelvin Hernandez to Make PGA Tour Debut

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men’s golf freshman Kelvin Hernandez will make his PGA Tour debut on Thursday, March 7, 2024, in the Puerto Rico Open at the Grand Reserve Golf Club in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico.

Hernandez finished as the runner-up at the Michelob Ultra Tour Championship this past December to earn a debut appearance in the PGA Tour. He finished the Michelob Ultra Tour Championship with an 11-under-par (205) with rounds of 69-66-70 in the three-round tournament.

“It’s truly an honor to be one of four Puerto Ricans representing Puerto Rico in the Open,” said Hernandez. “This has been a dream of mine since I was a little kid and now that I’ve made it, it feels like a dream come true. Playing in this PGA Tour event means that I’ll be gaining experience from other professionals and learning how they handle themselves on the course. The course is looking in great shape and I’m excited to start the tournament.”

Hernandez will begin with one round each on Thursday, March 7 and Friday, March 8 to qualify for the final two rounds on Saturday, March 9 and Sunday, March 10. To follow the Puerto Rico Open leaderboard click here.
