Crest Scoring:Davrious Surratt 20 points, AJ Adams 14, Cal Pass 12, Lyrick Pettis 10, Jabari Thurman 5, Cameron McDowell 5, Paxton Dobbins 2…
Southern Guilford out-scored Crest, 33-19 in the fourth quarter of the ball game…Southern came out hot early, with Jamias Ferere and Jy Dawkins getting the Storm moving, and early on Jucqarie Love was having trouble getting his shot going, but he was grabbing key rebounds, and playing solid defense as he worked very hard, waiting for his shot to start falling and it did…

In the early stages of this game, Jy Dawkins was connecting on a variety of shots for Southern, and he connected on a Super-Nice 360 move into the lane for a made layup…He also blocked two Crest shots in the first few minutes of this game, and those blocks were like watching Paul Bunyan, as he was “Bringing the Hammer Down”…

Dawkins was, “Bringing the Hammer Down”…He crushed it with those blocks, and he had dunks in this game, that nearly caused the building to move….The building was shaking, but Dawkins was not shaking, but he was baking, and had a huge three-point play in the second half, getting it down/done the old fashioned way, and his Three-Point Play, followed a Three-Point Shot from the field, by sharpeshooter Josiah Hill…

Hill give Southern a bonafide outside shooting threat, and Hill was steady with his three’s, his Free’s as in Free Throws, and with his two-point takers/layups, that the Crest Chargers were giving to him…Hill got very productive for SG in the second half, and in the fourth quarter, in particular…Hill infiltrated the Crest Chargers timeout huddle, and when he left the huddle, he was no worse for the wear than when he first went in there, but he did pick up some key Crest game plans……..

Southern Guilford is playing well these days, and they want to see these days turn into months, and the months into years…SG going for that 3-A State Title, and they will be at Hickory to face The Tornadoes this Friday night…Some spot sheets call Hickory, the Red Tornadoes…Guys on the Southern Side will need to get a good solid lead at Hickory, or might become a long night for the Storm…Many observers are picking up on the flats and the specialty items that Southern has cooking, in preparation for Hickory on Friday night…

The Hill kid for Southern, Josiah Hill, has become very effective for the SG Storm…He made plays all over the court, but Hill was able to give SG Threes and that is something that the Storm were lacking…They needed that Three-Point shot, and Hill is the Kid that can bring it all home for SG…

Southern Guilford is a team on the MOVE, and the Storm succeeded and they Ferere, Dawkins, Love, and Hill to bring it all home, and those four a few more allowed SG to go with a small rotation, but they got it all done….Hill and Dawkins are only sophomores for Southern, but they had 45 of SG’s 76 between them, and these two are kids on the climb…Ferere and Love are looking to leave memories that will last forever for the key SG Storm fanbase…

Going to be hard to keep SG Coach Wil Perry out for Guilford County Coach of the Year honors….Ferere, Love, and Dawkins all need somebody to save them a spot on the Hot Sheet, because if are not the All-Guilford County Team, then maybe we need to extend this AGCT, and lock in spots for Ferere, Love, and Dawkins…

Those Dawkins moves were like shots many of us had never seen before…Dawkins knew how to play the game, and we still find it hard to believe that this young man is only in the Tenth Grade….Dawkins plays like a senior, when makes his cuts to the basket….Keep an eye on this kid, he is going to be, “The Big Man, at the theaters….Just a Tenth Grader, Jyi Dawkins….

Southern is going to have to jump ON The Red Tornadoes/Hickory early in the game on Friday….SG vs. Hickory, with all of the important rocks on your side….Military-like approach from the kids who attend school at SMITH HS, and you better get with the AD down at SG, and make sure you can only hit it hard, and hoping the HEAT will get you past the next game…Very ambitiuous on the part of the SG Coaches and this SG group of players, and let’s look for them over at the LJVM Coliseum, next week…..
