UNCG Softball’s Maxwell Named SoCon Softball Player of the Month

Southern Conference Announces Players of the Month

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) softball team saw senior Brooklynn Maxwell selected by The Southern Conference (SoCon) as SoCon Softball Player of the Month for February, announced Friday.

Maxwell hit .433 for the month of February starting and playing in all 18 games, where the Spartans went 8-10 overall. She went 26-for-60 at the plate. She led the team in nine categories during the month. She scored 20 of the Spartans’ 91 runs, had five doubles, two triples, six home runs. She reached 53 total bases and had a .514 on-base percentage. She had an .883 slugging percentage and only struck out five times at the plate while walking nine times. She went 3-for-3 stealing bases.

On the field, she played all 18 games at third base and had a .941 fielding percentage. She had 18 putouts with a team-best 46 assists and only four errors.

Maxwell is currently leading the conference in runs scored (32), hits (44), RBI (30), triples (5), home runs (10), at bats (99), and assists (75). She is also second in batting average (.444), slugging percentage (.929), and on base + slugging percentage (1.442). She is also third in on-base percentage (0.513) and doubles (8).

She is leading the nation in hits (44) and total bases (92). Maxwell is nationally ranked second in triples, fifth in home runs, ninth in triples per game, 11th in slugging percentage, 14th in RBI, 24th in runs per game, 27th in home runs per game, 44th in doubles, and 49th in batting average.

UP NEXT

UNCG will take a week off and conclude its 10-game home stand with a doubleheader against Radford on Wednesday, March 20 with the first game at 2:00 p.m. at the UNCG Softball Stadium.

All regular season home games are free admission. Concessions are open and outside food will not be permitted. All weekday home games (not including Friday) will be Bark in the Park games, where spectators can bring their dogs.
