Proehl, Kevin Austin

Kevin Austin Proehl, 81, of Greensboro, NC, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 12, 2024.

Kevin was born in the Bronx, NY where he developed his passion for life and sports. It was there he found his love for the NY Yankees, attending baseball games with his mom on Sundays for 25 cents! Kevin was also a devoted New York Giants fan, holding season tickets at the Meadowlands for 25 years. But the most important love he found was for his high school sweetheart, Victoria Farese Proehl.

In fact, Kevin met Vicky at a neighborhood baseball game between their two apartment buildings!

Together, the two of them enjoyed all that New York had to offer, from Broadway shows, Italian food at the infamous Arthur Avenue district to meeting and making life-long friends. Kevin attended Fordham University, completing both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees. In 1964, Kevin married Vicky and the two started their family. In 1973, they moved to New Jersey to raise their family and later moved to North Carolina to be closer to their adult children.

Kevin is survived by his wife of 60 years, Victoria Farese Proehl; daughter Deborah Proehl-Moser and her husband, Stafford Moser, and son Ricky Proehl and his wife Kelly. Kevin adored his five grandchildren and two great grandchildren: Ford Moser; Victoria Moser; Alexandria Proehl Manring and her husband Cole Manring; Austin Proehl and Blake Proehl; and great-granddaughters Coven and Hadley Manring. He was preceded in death by his parents Henry Frank Proehl and Muriel Cahoon Proehl.

A service to celebrate his beautiful life will be held at St Pius Church on Monday, March 18th, 2024 at 11 a.m. A lunch and reception at the church will follow.
