UNCG Baseball Set for Cross Town Rivalry with NC A&T
GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) baseball team will take a short drive across town on Tuesday, March 19 to face North Carolina A&T at the World War Memorial Stadium in Greensboro, N.C. at 6 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT FOR THE SPARTANS
The Spartans most recently went 2-1 in their series at South Florida this past weekend.
UNCG closed out the weekend with a 6-4 win over the Bulls on Sunday in Tampa, Fla.
Jacob Budzik recorded his first two collegiate home runs in Sunday’s game, while Trey Truitt and Caleb Cozart added one home run apiece as well.
Aidan Brewer and Budzik led the Spartans with two hits apiece.
Budzik paced the team with a career high three RBI.
GC Jarman led the Spartans in fielding with eight total putouts.
Rob Ready and Danny Thompson Jr. recorded two strikeouts a piece on the mound.
SCOUTING THE SPARTANS
UNCG will head to North Carolina A&T with an 11-8 overall record.
The Spartans are currently ranked in the top 50 nationally over five categories: hit by pitch (38), sacrifice bunts (16), stolen bases (46), stolen bases per game (2.42), and triples (6).
Jeremy Wolf stands out at 18th nationally with a 0.27 sacrifice bunts per game average. In addition, Wolf is currently ranked 10th in the country with a 0.73 average in stolen bases per game.
Cozart was named The Southern Conference (SoCon) Player of the Week and the Perfect Game Player of the Week after hitting four home runs in the season opening series against Fairfield. Cozart is ranked 15th in the country with his nine home runs this season and is 11th with a .50 home runs per game average. In addition, Cozart is 14th nationally with a 1.61 RBI average per game and 24th with 29 RBI’s on the season.
Julien Peissel was selected as the SoCon Pitcher of the Week after starting off on the mound in UNCG’s win over No. 1 Wake Forest on Tuesday, Feb. 20.
UNCG was tabbed to finish sixth in the 2024 SoCon Preseason Coaches’ Poll.
Rob Ready was named to the Preseason All-SoCon second team.
The Spartans finished the 2023 season with a 25-34 overall record and 9-12 in SoCon play to earn the sixth spot in the SoCon Preseason Coaches’ Poll. UNCG concluded the season in the semifinal round of the SoCon Tournament, falling to No. 1 Samford, 9-5.
The Spartans welcome 22 newcomers for the 2024 season: 10 transfers and 12 freshmen.

SCOUTING THE AGGIES
North Carolina A&T heads into Tuesday’s contest with a 14-5 overall record on the 2024 stanza.
The Aggies most recently took a weekend series sweep over George Mason in Greensboro, N.C.
N.C. A&T is ranked in the top-50 nationally in five categories: doubles (45), doubles per game (2.37), hit by pitch (42), sacrifice flies (14), win-loss percentage (.737).
Tatsunori Negishi is currently ranked 16th nationally with a 0.53 doubles per game average and is 25th with nine doubles on the season. In addition, Negishi is 16th in the country with a .566 on base percentage and 20th with four sacrifice bunts.
Negishi is leading the Aggies with 18 runs, 24 hits, and three homers.
Michael Logan is ranked 27th nationally with a 0.50 hit by pitch per game average.
Canyon Brown is pacing the Aggies with 19 RBI on the season.

UNCG leads in the overall series to N.C. A&T at 47-11 overall. The Spartans claimed the most recent meeting with the Aggies on March 22, 2023 in a 6-3 win at the World War Memorial Stadium.
