Elizabeth Kitley has had a two-day stretch that she will never forget.

Saturday, Virginia Tech announced that they are retiring Kitley’s No. 33 next season and will raise it to the rafters some night next season at Cassell Coliseum. Monday night, Kitley was in Brooklyn, New York for the 2024 WNBA Draft after being invited despite her not being able to play this season because of an injury she suffered on March 3 at Virginia.

Two-time defending WNBA champion Las Vegas Aces selected Kitley in the second round with the 24th overall pick.

Kitley was a three-time ACC Player of the Year in Blacksburg, an All-American, the all-time leader in games played for Hokies in five seasons. She recorded 76 career double-doubles and grabbed over 1,500 rebounds. She played a huge role in Virginia Tech winning their first ACC Tournament Championship and Final Four appearance in 2023 and the ACC regular season title in 2023-24.

Kitley will not play this season, but she will continue to rehab and will work hard to get ready to play in 2025 and learn a lot from head coach Becky Hammon.
