Grasshoppers Take Down the Crawdads, 9-6 on Thursday Evening

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Greensboro Grasshoppers took down the Hickory Crawdads, 9-6 on Thursday, April 18. The Grasshoppers improved to 8-4 on the season while the Crawdads fell to 4-8. Greensboro outhit Hickory 9-6 as both teams had two mishaps.

The Grasshoppers offense was led by outfielder Sammy Siani who went 4-5 with two doubles, one RBI, and two runs scored. Josiah Sightler followed behind as he went 2-4 with a home run, three RBI, and two runs scored. Hits for Greensboro were also tallied by Termarr Johnson, Charles McAdoo, and Nick Cimillo.

Leading at the dish for the Crawdads was catcher Ian Moller as he went 2-3 with a double and two runs scored. Hits for Hickory were also recorded by Yeison Morrobel, Quincy Scott, Daniel Mateo, and Marco Soto.

Starting on the mound for Greensboro was righthanded pitcher Patrick Reilly who tallied seven strikeouts and gave up two hits, four earned runs, and three free bases on 4.1 innings of work. Dominic Perachi recorded the win for the Grasshoppers and improved to 2-0 on the season.

Starting on the rubber for Hickory was righthanded pitcher Joseph Montalvo who recorded two strikeouts and gave up five hits, five runs (four earned), and four free bases on 2.1 innings of work. Montalvo took the loss for the Crawdads and fell to 0-2 on the season.
