UNCG Baseball Cruises to 9-1 Victory Over USC Upstate on Senior Day

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) baseball team won 9-1 in the second game of a non-conference series against USC Upstate on Friday afternoon at the UNCG Baseball Stadium.

The Spartans recognized their 10 seniors before the game, including Aidan Brewer, Caleb Cozart, GC Jarman, Matt Kemp, Sam Murchison, Cam Murphy, Ryan Rouse, Mitchell Smith, Sammy Tortorella and Matt Venuto.

HOW IT HAPPENED

USC Upstate scored its only run and opened the scoring during the second inning. After Koby Kropf doubled down the line in left, he scored following back-to-back groundouts by Troy Hamilton and Tyler Lang to make it 1-0.

UNCG grabbed a 2-1 lead in the fourth inning when Zachary Walsh singled to right to score Luke Holland and Trey Truitt.

The Blue and Gold tacked on four more runs in the fifth to extend their lead to 6-1. After Aidan Brewer scored on a wild pitch for the first run, Holland roped a bases-clearing double down the line in left to score three and extend the lead to five, 6-1.

After Cam Murphy singled through the left side to score Walsh in the seventh inning, Holland launched a pitch out to left for a no-doubt home run that capped the scoring at 9-1.
