It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a beloved member of our athletic community, Coach Mike Raybon. To honor his remarkable contributions to Ragsdale High School and the wrestling program, we will be holding a public community celebration of life on Sunday, June 2, 2024.
The event will take place at 2:00 PM in the Mike Raybon Gymnasium, a fitting tribute to a man who dedicated his life to coaching and serving as the Athletic Director at Ragsdale High School. Coach Raybon’s impact was profound, having established the wrestling program at Ragsdale in 1965 and leaving an indelible mark on our school’s sporting history.
Coach Raybon’s dedication, passion, and unwavering commitment to his athletes earned him numerous accolades throughout his career. In 2005, he was rightfully inducted into the NCHSAA (North Carolina High School Athletic Association) Hall of Fame, a testament to his excellence and influence in the world of high school wrestling.
We invite the entire community to join us in celebrating the remarkable life of Coach Mike Raybon. The doors to the Mike Raybon Gymnasium will open at 1:30 PM, allowing attendees to gather and share their memories of this exceptional individual. It will be an opportunity to reflect on his legacy, honor his achievements, and pay tribute to the impact he had on our school and the lives of countless students.
