Friendly Frogs hop past Bur Mil Marlins to close out Week One of CSA.

The Friendly Frogs Swim Team, guided by new head coach Ed Gomez, picked up a thrilling 663.5 to 654.5 weather shortened win over the visiting Bur Mil Marlins to wrap-up week one of the Greensboro Community Swim Association swimming season.  “Overall, I am very happy for the kids. The weather was not ideal, but for all the new swimming tonight, I am so happy for them to compete and pick up their first win. We have a lot of work to do but I am so excited for them ” Coach Ed explained as the final results were certified.
What started as a hot and sunny afternoon turned stormy as thunder halted the meet for nearly an hour.  Action resumed on event 31 of the 84 scheduled.  As the sun set both coaches decided it was best to end the contest at event 64, as the local time approached 10:15pm. When the final score was tallied the Frogs picked up a 9 point win, one of the closest in dual meet history.
On how the Marlins fared, head coach Abby Schoppa explained “I was very proud of all of our swimmers tonight.  They really applied what we had been practicing.  The weather was difficult, but seeing the confidence in our swimmers, from our very first practice to now our first meet, was great.  I can’t wait to see how that progresses throughout the rest of the season.”
