2024 ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Div. I All-Region Teams Announced

GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNC Greensboro (UNCG) baseball recent graduate Caleb Cozart was named to the American Baseball Coaches’ Association (ABCA)/Rawlings NCAA Division I All-Atlantic first team, as announced by the organization on Tuesday.

Cozart is the 11th Spartan to earn a spot on an ABCA Div. I All-Region team. Additionally, he is the seventh member of the UNCG baseball team to land on the first team. In doing so, Cozart will be eligible for All-America honors when those teams are announced Friday, June 14 prior to the start of the 2024 NCAA Div. I College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska.

“Receiving first team is something I can add to the list when I look back at my senior season,” said Cozart. “However, it all wouldn’t have been possible if it weren’t for my coaches and teammates.”

The High Point, North Carolina, native paced the Spartans offensively this season in batting average (.332), slugging percentage (.742) and on-base percentage (.474). Cozart was recently named The Southern Conference (SoCon) Coaches’ Player of the Year. He broke UNCG’s single-season record for home runs (22) when he hit his 18th of the season on April 24 against High Point. Cozart also tied Kennedy Jones (2022-23) for the program’s single-season high for RBI (73) during the SoCon Tournament at Fluor Field in Greenville, South Carolina.

In just two seasons as a Spartan, Cozart stands at fifth on UNCG’s top-10 list for home runs with 29. He earned spots on four all-conference teams this season, including being voted to the coaches and media first teams as a designated hitter as well as both second teams as a first baseman. Cozart was named SoCon Player of the Week twice this season (Feb. 19 & April 29) and was also crowned Perfect Game Co-Player of the Week on Feb. 20.

Cozart was named a semifinalist for the Dick Howser Trophy, which is considered the most prestigious award in college baseball and given to the top player based on two rounds of national voting by National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) members.
