North Carolina Tar Heels walk-off Virginia in Game One at College Baseball World Series in Omaha: Quite the Cut, by Honeycutt to win it

from and The Diamond Heels are Winners in Game One at CWS…..

OMAHA, Neb.Vance Honeycutt’s two-out RBI single in the bottom of the ninth gave North Carolina a 3-2 win over Virginia in the first game of the College World Series on Friday.

The Men’s College World Series is off to a hot start already, and it’s because of none other than North Carolina’s Vance Honeycutt.

After hitting a walk-off HR in supers, Honeycutt hit a walk-off RBI single to lift the No. 4 Tar Heels over No. 12 Virginia 3-2.

Next on the docket is No. 1 Tennessee against No. 8 Florida State at 7 p.m. ET. Florida State missed the entire NCAA baseball tournament last year and has had a strong showing so far this year, and Tennessee is hoping to overcome the curse of the top-ranked team, with no No. 1 squad winning the MCWS title since 1999.

With four teams from the ACC (UNC, FSU, UVA and No. 10 NC State) and four teams from the SEC (Tennessee, Kentucky, No. 5 Texas A&M and Florida), there’s sure to be plenty more high-powered baseball on both sides of the bracket.
